Play kitchen - 4.5 yr. girl??

Do you think a 4.5 year old girl would play with a play kitchen for very long? Or do you think it would be outgrown quickly?

Thanks mamas!

My DD is 4.5 and still plays with her kitchen all the time. I can't see her stopping anytime soon!

My almost 6 year old still loves playing with her kitchen!

We bought our daughter, then 3, a play kitchen. It makes a frying sound and the element lights up when you turn it on. The faucet makes a running water sound when you turn the knob, and the microwave beeps when you push the buttons.
My oldest is now 8. All three of my girls LOVE it, they're always making us lunch and dinner. All of our friends and family keep giving them plastic foods, dishes, appliances... the girls squeal with delight everytime they open such gifts! But the other things they get, no matter how cool, are gushed over, but more for the gift-givers sake than they're own excitement.

I love my girls so much!

But I really think that this is a personal question that you'll find out, not one you can gauge future playtime on. All kids are different.. but that said it might be a fairly decent guideline.

I think it depends upon the girl. I personally played "house" for years - well into my pre-teen years.

My niece, on the other hand, was acting like a teenager and had no interest in playing house or with dolls by the time she was 6!

My DD is only 3, but she has signs of clearly being interested in her play kitchen for quite a while yet!

I remember playing with mine until I was 9 or so and my niece plays with hers still and she's 8.

My DD was ready to get rid of hers in 2nd grade (7 years old). DS also didn't want it at that point.

I've heard/read that a play kitchen is the longest longevity toy for boys and girls.

We have a play kitchen that we bought for our boys when they were 2, 2 and 4. Now they're 4, 4 and 6 and still love it.

We have it pulled out from the wall because sometimes they like to play restaurant and go to the "window" to collect food for serving.

My oldest has been asking for a tea party set for two years now, so we bought him one this Christmas from Learning Resources that has the teapot, plates/saucers/silverware for 4, so I'm sure the play kitchen will be an even bigger hit for awhile while they make and serve tea.

I remember fondly playing with my toy kitchen at age 4 or 5. I just bought my 4yr old DD a new kitchen (other kitchen perished in a fire). Remember, many kindergarten classes still do centers and have a kitchen as one of the centers. And the kids LOVE to go to that center. I teach second grade and could definitely see some of my girls saying no to play kitchens by that age 7,8.

We got Amethyst an awesome kitchen for Christmas when she was 2.5. She played with it hardcore for a while but has recently stopped using it as much. Which mkaes me sad because I LOVE it. She is also very tall though, so its kind of short for her.

BUT, Asheby loves it and he sneaks into her room to play with it whenever he can!
