Anyone know which crockpots are lead-free ?

I've seen on this forums that some do contain lead (ie, maybe it was those that are made in China)... does anyone know for sure any reasonably-priced crockpots that have lead-free glaze ?

TIA

Rival verified that their glazes DO contain lead (in an amount well under the limit set by the FDA), and that they do NOT make any crockpots with a lead-free glaze.
ok, I just called Rival and asked and I was told that they do NOT have lead. Now where do we go from here? http://www.mothering.com/discussions...=161450&page=2

Looks like there is some conflicting info coming from the company. have to wonder if they can call it "lead free" as long as it the amount of lead is under the FDA safety requirements. Like you can call something zero VOC if it is really low VOC or "fat free" if it's less than 1 gram per serving. KWIM?

I wonder even about the ones that advertise that they are lead and cadmium free. It may be that what they really mean is they are below the FDA levels.

Are lead test kits able to pick up small amounts of lead?

Yea, I agree - I'm sure that's the case. It's just an individual interpretation based on whom you speak with at the company... Although... I don't really know it's a problem b/c of the low heat that crocks do - since they're glazed at 12-1600 degrees to set the glaze, I doubt that lead would leak out (at 2-300 degrees), but I'm not really sure. so I think I'll buy a Hamilton Beach one.

Re. the home test kits... I read on another thread that they're not very reliable.
