co-sleeping positions - do you snuggle tight?

so i never felt like i found the 'perfect fit' co-sleeping w/ my little infant last time. i'm more confident this time, but am still wondering what others find comfortable.

do you snuggle them right in your armpit all night?

are you mostly hands off?

do you keep them on their back and curve your arm around?

or......what?

Usually she's on her side at boob level since she nurses off and on all night. And the toddler is in the same position on the other side. I just roll over to whoever is needing the boob at that particular moment.

Seriously, my favorite way to sleep is with her on my chest on her belly.

It varies night to night. Most of the time she is snuggled up in my armpit, though occasionally I will transfer her to her cosleeper (which is also called: the laundry holder, lol) so that I can roll around, or cuddle with the toddler. So far she is pretty content as long as the boob is no more than 5 seconds away

I keep him snuggled close to my chest as I lay on my side. DH slept with us once so far and ds slept between us but had plenty of room. So far ds seems to wake every 2 hours or so to nurse at night and so dh isn't sleeping with us because he is a light sleeper and wakes everytime we do.

pretty hands off. she sleeps on her side facing me & i have my arm/hand near her but not always touching.

also i'm jealous of some of you. i can't nurse lying down (yet? i hear it gets easier) so i have to sit up and get into a back-friendly pillow set-up for feeds.

For both my boys they sleep on their sides facing me or on their back, when they're on their side they'd also be using my arm as a pillow and I'd cuddle them close that way. It's what was/is most comfortable for me.

He slept on my chest in the early weeks. Then we had a side-car (co-sleeper) and we'd hold hands until his next feed, when I'd cradle him to my side to feed him, and he'd sleep there cradled to my side.
Now, at nearly 20 months, he has his feed, then rolls over and goes over to his side of the bed i miss the snuggles. He quite often will kinda reach his arm out for me though, he just needs to feel that I'm there.

In the hospital and for the first few days at home, Olivia slept *on* me overnight. In the hospital, she napped on me too; at home she naps kinda snuggled into her Boppy.

Now that I've graduated, recovery-wise, from the recliner to the bed, I tried letting her sleep overnight in the Boppy the first night, and last night she slept on the bed, with her head on my arm and me spooned around her. I'm going to take the 'mattress' from the cosleeper and slide that under the fitted sheet on my bed, tho, for future cosleeping, since we have a pillowtop mattress and it makes me a lil' nervous.

The side lying nursing is tricky. Practice, practice, practice. We're getting there. It is supposed to get easier with better head control. My little rugby player came out of the womb *believing* she had total head control, and she's pretty persistent about it. I still find I really have to hold my boob out of the way of her nose in this position, though, so it's not super comfortable for me yet.

I'm so much more comfortable cosleeping than I thought I would be. The plan was to use a snuggle nest, but it never found its way into my bed! We mix it up a bit. Sometimes she's on her back, sometimes cradled in my arm, sometimes with me lying with my arm around her. I do try to make sure no pillows or fluffy blankets are too close to her. I love the belly to chest action, but we mostly save that for naps.

Same issue here basically. The way I have to hold myself is sooo uncomfortable for me - but she can nurse in that position. It just kills my shoulders and neck so I don't do it.

So for those of you who are snuggly sleepers... j/w what do you do with blankets? I tuck mine under myself but I don't snuggle w/her. Just put a hand or arm on/near her. Unless we both pass out during nursing in which case I'm reclined or sitting up and she's snuggled into my arms... but then I wake up frozen 'cause the blankets obviously aren't pulled up to my chin. Heh.

I've been fighting a bug (or Cedar Fever, ya never know this time of year in Texas ... <sigh>) so I have been fuh-reezing at night. I keep the heat set at 72, dress Olivia appropriately, and then wear a sweatshirt or fleece to bed - I can then pull the sheets and a blanket up to my waist and Olivia is blanket-free.

depends on how baby sleeps best. find whatever works for you.

I've slept with all 6 of my kids and they each have different snuggling preferences, and I have mine (not like it counts much anymore)

this current baby likes to lay directly on top of my chest. she's the snuggliest one I've had. God, I love her.

Kieran slept on my chest the first few days after he was released from the hospital, but the last two nights he's let me snuggle him into my armpit. Last night was our first successful latch lying side to side, but I also had to kind of hold my boob up for it to work.
God I love this!!

We start out with Avye sleeping on her back, without us snuggling at all. Around 2-3 she starts nursing so I cuddle and side nurse her. Then around 5 she wakes up and doesn't want to fall asleep until 8 or so (the time her sister wakes up of course)

So far I've been putting ds up next to my chest and pulling our blanket up to his to keep us warm. He sleeps in just a diaper so he is also warmed by skin to skin contact. If my back/shoulders get cold I might put a blanket against my back or wear an unzipped sweatshirt.

I sleep on my side, and ds on his side latched on. I put a pillow behind my back for support. My back gets real sore otherwise. My arm falls asleep usually. Its difficult to do, but ds sleeps so well like this. He will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.

usually DS is at boob level snuggled up reall close and we share cover usually

She's on her side at boob level, but I don't trust her latch enough to nurse laying down much yet, so we sit up for that. We snuggle as closely as we can, w/DH snuggled up behind me. It's pretty cozy. What amazes us is that she sleeps from about 11-ish to 5-ish, which is almost our normal sleeping time anyway. We're really happy about that & are enjoying it while it lasts.

ds spends most of the night on his side, right up against me.

I curl myself around her. At this age I did with all my babies. Her head on my arm at boob level on her side, me on my side, legs drawn up like in the fetal position so they are basically tucked in to me. Because she sleeps nakey thanks to night time EC and I sleep pretty much nude she gets optimal skin to skin contact this way. Once they are bigger they just sleep next to me but I don't curl around htem. Like DS age4 he sleeps close enough that he can reach out a hand and stroke my hair but otherwise there is space between us. DS age9 sleeps at teh foot of the bed if he climbs in, so he is close but pretty much no contact.

For blankets the older boys use their own, and then I pulls mine up to my shoulders at eh back since I am on my side, and pull the front side down to hers if that makes sense. She ends up ender my covers with just her little head popping out. If particularily chilly, I pull her up closer to my neck and pull the blanket up higher on us both.
