We bunded the kids up in their Pjs last night to drive around and see the Christmas lights, and there was hardly any? Definitly fewer than last year. So I'm just curious... Do you or don't you and why?

Just for the record, we do a few on some garland on the porch, but not a ton.

I really wanted to since this is my first Christmas in my own home with my new man and baby. But we don't have any lights or even a tree. I don't have a car, so I can't get them. Plus we don't really have any money this year. Ah, well. The neighbors have three of those huge blow-up snow globes and a buttload of lights. That's enough for the whole block.

I choose other. We live in an apartment and put lights in our front windows. We love lights at christmas! LAst few years when we owned our home we would put lights all around outside.

No, we just do some wreaths and candles.
We love to drive through the "rich neighborhoods" around here and look at Christmas lights.

yes we do...we have them on our front roof line, around our porch, and along our fence in front. It sounds like alot, but I voted 'yes but just a little'
they are all the LED ones.

we are planning to go drive around tomorrow night and look at everyone elses.

I have one measley string of LED snowflake lights hung on the porch. I kept meaning to decorate a little cedar tree we have with ball ornaments and more LED lights, but it never happened this year. I voted "a little", but if I could I'd vote the "lazy" one, too...

We have a few holiday lights inside for us to enjoy, but I'm not going to waste fossil fuels if I don't need to. I voted that it's ungreen.

I replied other as we live in an apartment. Don't know if I would or not if we had a home.

We hang a few strands of LED lights, we'd probably hang more if we had the time. I love lights.

Too expensive, too wasteful and too busy here.

that's us. although i am sure we wouldn't have this year -- too busy. but as a practice, who knows? y favorite family tradition when i was a kid was pulling bags of candles in sand in the sled and putting them around the yard.

I chose other. We don't have any outside electric sockets
post #13 of 23
We do, but just alittle. I would love to do more, but we don't have the time or money. WE love to drive around and see some of the extensive lighting/yard decorations. We have several areas where many of the retirees go all out and do some neat things,I would miss that, the kids love it.

They get to dress in their pj's, get hot cocoa and cookies, bring christmas music, and then we drive around, it's a nice, cheap (for us,anyway) christmas tradition!

they make solar christmas lights...... i saw it on living with ed.

but no, we dont, because we have no yard.

I put no, too un-green.

The truth is I am also too lazy and cheap. I can't see them if they are outside for the most part, I don't have the lights for it, and I hate sloppy lights. Droopy strings and uneven distribution along with the chunks of unlit lights just doesn't look good to me so we skip at and don't have that argument here.

Yes we hang Xmas lights on the front roof of the house. WE also have some lighted reindeer and a sled.

We live too far out for lights to even be seen. I have a couple of wreaths that stay up 365 days a year This year I actually replaced them for the first time in 6 years. They were looking kind of sad and a new ribbon would not have helped. If we lived closer to a road we might do some basic lights for between Christmas & New Years.

We are too lazy! DH was going to put them up this year but didn't get around to it so I returned the lights he bought and plan to buy some for next year when they go on sale tomorrow. We really wanted to for DS but...

I do hang wreaths and wrapped the side porch with greenery.

We don't. It started when dh and I moved in together that it was too much hassle and then when I thought of adding even more expense to my electric bill it made me sick. This year I was considering hanging a few for the kids but we already have a tree that has three strings of lights and I couldn't find lights that would use very little energy so I just blew it off. Next year we may do a few (simple border on the apartment) if I can find some that use very minimal energy. As it stands when my tree is on I make us walk around in total darkness in the rest of the house because I feel badly using extra energy for such a superficial reason.

Yes we do. We have a simple set-up of LEDs, following our roofline. So they are pretty energy efficient at least. We tried to find a happy medium.
