I agree with the freedom reason, that's it most of all for me.

I guess I've had better experiences with villages than GranolaMoon, because one of the things I like about homeschooling is that Rain does get so much time to be interacting with the world and the people we find there, and learning from and with them. I'm not sure about the whole concept of chidren being "raised" anyway - it seems to imply that they begin as really low beings and others pull them up to become real adult people - but I do think there are lots of people out in the world who have had significant and positive effets on Rain as she grows and learns. I'm glad she has a village out there... it seems like the kids in school are the ones isolated away from their villages.

I'd rather ask -- give me a good reason why, if I can possibly afford to stay home with my children, I would send them off to school.

Homeschooling just seems like the natural progression from natural/attached baby parenting to me. It's just right.
