"mom they dont fit"

Why must children continue to grow mid-season?
Ds announced today that both pairs of his sneakers are too tight, yes he is correct, i checked them... I also noticed his pants are short... why couldnt he wait 6-8 wks when it goes back to shorts and t-shirt weather here (arizona) and legnth isnt much of an issue?

I guess when I do a quick declutter sunday/monday I can add the old shoes to the bag.. my next boy is quite abit younger and I dont have storage room for 6 years

Its the holidays and he needs shoes and pants... ugh...(and he is very thin so they need to be slim or adjustable waists)

I loved moving to NorCal as I spend less on clothes because shorts season lasts so long and they wear t-shirts year round (with sweatshirts when its cold). BUT of course they all need pants in the middle of winter! All three boys at once and sneakers too.

Hold on a couple more days and you can hit boxing day sales. My kids wear pants that are too short for them all the time and nobody seems to notice.

It is a pain! Lately this is my kids. Fortunately we had a ton of hand me downs from friends for DS but DD is bigger/taller than girls twice her age, lol! Fortunately I was able to find all I needed for her at second hand stores (except undies but hopefully she'll get some for Christmas).

try freecycle! We get clothes for DS all the time from others who have outgrown them, and that includes shoes.

Have you tried an ISO on freecycle at least for the pants? A lot of people are decluttering this time of year.

i just saw the news to day-- many retail shops are doing sales upto 70 % today and tommorow just because the holiday season sales werent as good as they hoped for. they moved the day after chirstmas sales up. and many stores that have the semi annual sales in januray also bumped it up to know.

I feel your pain. My ds needs a 14 slim (and they are still too big around but...) He has none in this size. He wears mostly 12 slim and they hang low enough that they don't look *too* short. One friend of mine bugs me about it but my son doesn't care and he is just growing more and more. Her son will hit his growth spurts oon enough.

I went to the consignment store and dd found plenty. The plan had been for her to take his and for him to get new pants. She was happy to have girly clothes once again. I know when I buy fall clothes they will only fit until Christmas but it still frustrates me every year.

It's gotta make you crazy keeping 9 kids in shoes. I second the freecycle and after xmas shopping ideas.

I plan on hitting the department stores in the first week of Jan. They do their inventory and slash the prices. I always manage to get next years size winter coats for a good deal less. I also buy the next few sizes up on sneakers etc also discounted. DD1's boots etc will go in the closet for when dd2 is ready for them. DD2 is wearing dd1's coats from a few years ago.

The great thing about having 2 girls I have in sizes 2T and up: sandels, shoes, tights, bathing suits, hair things, dressy dresses for hot and cold, panties, socks socks sock, holiday shirts like an orange pumkin shirt, 4th of july shirt etc. As Maggie outgrows, they get passed on or donated.

We went to the stride rite outlet and he got shoes $15 (orig 45).... also hit kohls which was having 80-90% off and he got 4 pants for about $15.... 2 jeans and 2 athletic type pants....

Merry Christmas everyone.

yeah for sales!

I just can't buy used shoes for the kids unless they're literally like new. Shoes form to the wearer's feet and stride. If you wear their shoes, you're throwing your own balance out of whack and eventually that can compound into back and other problems.

I do however shop thrift stores now and accept good hand-me-downs. Often stuff from Freecycle isn't great but if I get anything we don't like, I pass them on.

Unfortunately our consignment shops around here are pretty expensive compared to other places. I miss having affordable second-hand shops! There's usually so much junk to wade through there and the Salvation Army that I get frustrated too.
