I'm making a fitted from organic velour (short velour, if that matters) using the Very Baby AIO pattern. I've made a number of these in other fabrics, such as hemp fleece and hemp French terry, and I've found 2 body layers to be enough. I'm not going for super absorbency or anything; these are just newborn size right now. I'm just wondering if maybe the OV is too soft and stretchy to go without a third hidden layer (either of OV or another fabric). Most of the WAHM diapers I see made of OV have three body layers, but I just want to make sure I won't have too much bulk, especially in the wings, as this will be a turned a top-stitched diaper. I imagine the wings would be too thick with three layers of hemp fleece or hemp French terry; two layers seemed just right for those, but the OV isn't so heavy.
If you think I ought to use three layers, which fabric would be best for the middle layer? I have hemp fleece, hemp French terry, hemp jersey, Killington (or whatever it's called) unbleached diaper flannel, recycled t-shirt knit, and I don't know what else.
TIA!
