Really Random BBT Question

Hello all-

I have a totally stupid question that's pretty much unrelated to anything, but I have to ask...

Conventional wisdom is that a person's normal temperature is 98.6. So how come my BBT readings never get over 98? From chart-stalking on FF, it seems as though most women are in the same boat. What's the deal?

TIA!

98.6 is the normal waking temp when you are up and moving and your metabolism is in full swing! BBT is when you are at rest and your metabolism is slow! BBT gives you a better base line for fertility purposes because there are less variables to make it wonky! hope that helped a little! BBT must have worked a little for you! I see you're PG!

Yes, I am, after only 2 cycles of charting and TTC. I feel as though I've won the lottery, but am also pretty much totally freaked out. It does NOT seem real.

I would never be here if it weren't for the wisdom I've gleaned from the women on this board. Y'all are my angels!

P.S. Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense!
