I've been nit picking articles today. On a search of artificial skin grafts I came across this:

Newer skin substitutes, including those made from cultured cells of infant foreskins, are already or soon to be on the market.

This is why RIC will senselessly continue in this country. :

Better skin grafts than beauty cream. They use them for that too.

Yeah...

It is a LOT better than skin creams, but I can already picture pro-circers using skin grafts as another reason to rationalize the senseless practice of RIC. ("Oh, but look at the good it does for society!")

*sigh*

There is no way to fully express my disgust, anger and the shame I feel of America for allowing this to happen.

this is very upsetting. Its how I feel about using placentas in beauty products and so forth. Espically the fact that hospitals SELL them and make money off of them. I think women should be reimbursed for that!

But that aside. For those who do circ for religious reasons or for placentas or the like, I think it would show much more reverence and respect to bury them or something in the same vein.

Of course, for most people and in the case of RIC the very best thing is to leave the child alone in the first place.

If anyone got paid for placentas, it should be the infant. The placenta is the baby's organ, not the mother's. But organ or tissue sale is illegal in this country. Even plasma is "donated," although the donor is paid "for the donor's time."

More to the point, the parents should be asked before their baby's placenta is taken.
