Soon after I found out I was pregnant, I read on one of those "your pregnancy week by week" type websites that the babe was approximately the size of the dot above the letter 'i' on a page of printed text. I jokingly referred to "our little dot" a few times, and it stuck, so our babe's working title is now officially "Dot". Never mind that Dot has now grown to the size of a chickpea...

The funny thing is that I think of "Dot" as a female name, so I've unconsciously been referring to the babe as "she" and "her". The whole family is now convinced that I have some sixth sense about my baby's gender, but it's really just a case of gender stereotyping based on a name. I honestly have no idea what Dot will turn out to be!

DH and DS are going along with it as well, in fact I'm not sure DS really understands that the baby will get a new name once it's born. Heh. I remind him now and then that it COULD be a girl.

Anyway, just wondering if others have temporary names for the baby while gestating?
Just found out this morning, so we haven't really thought about that at all, but when my mom was pregnant with my little brother I told my parents he was a little brother and his name was Adam. They tried to tell me "it might be a sister", but I knew better.

None yet, but last time my ds called his brother in utero "Lilo" from a "Lilo and Stitch" preview that he saw one time. We didn't know the gender yet, and ds thought that "Lilo" referred to the "monster" not the little girl. But Lilo it was and so when he was born we introduced him to ds: "this is baby Lilo from my belly." And Lilo stuck for at least 3 years. He never got called by his real name. Finally it did wear off, but he occasionally is called Lilo to this day. So watch it!

We're using "aka-chan" which is Japanese for "baby" and appropriate for both male or female.

I voted no but thinking this would be a good idea. I know I would if I was carrying it myself. Hmmmm... off to think of an endearing name...

Ok, you have to pronounce it this way: Throw one fist in the air, all power-rangers style, and YELL,
"Suuuuper-Babeeeee!"

We just say "the baby" or occasionally "number 4".

DS (who dubbed his then unknown sister "baby cashew") has come up with Baby Butter Crunch for this one. Strange boy. . .

My adorable name of "sweetpea" is out. I told it to DS (who is almost 3) and he ran around the house saying "baby pee-pee". So it's 100% out. I need a new name.
