I love how she made it clear it wasn't about money!

Wow. Only in Canada will a woman sue an eating establishment and only ask for $100 (the cost to drive to another town and buy food; what she felt it cost her monetarily to be kicked out of the restaurant without eating.) In America I think she would have sued for a whole lot more money!

Court costs at least, in addtion to the cost of gas and all the rest.

I don't agree... I know a lot women on MDC who wouldn't sue for money, myself included.

Money

The funny thing is that I am starting to think if a big enough settlement occurred, then many would stand up and take notice.
Unfortunately, in the USA, that is what really impacts businesses, so I really think suing for money would be great in these instances, ethics aside.
Thanks for the interest mamas!

Donate the "winnings" to LLL and I wouldn't have any problems with the ethics of a big payout...

I'm not sure there were court costs. I suppose it's possible she had a lawyer, but she went through the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and that might have been completely free.

She did the right thing for her though - and I'm pleased that the OHRC continues to uphold their statement on the rights of breastfeeding mothers and babies (IMO, the statement lacks some teeth, but clearly it's got enough to make things stand).
