having a crappy christmas. dh is sick and i can't STAND being around him when he's like this. : he has a cold, that's it. no fever, no blood, no missing limbs, just coughing and runny nose. you'd think he'd had open heart surgery by the way he expects me to baby him. i try to empathize, but he seems to think the i've never been sick like he is right now and couldn't possibly understand how miserable he is.

i'm trying really hard to enjoy dd opening her gifts and her excitement over today, but he's ruining my mood.

anyway, they're both laying down for a nap, and i'd LOVE to crash too, but he's discovered an ACV cure for his chest which includes a rag SOAKED in nasty smelling vinegar under a HEATING PAD on his chest. my lovely, quiet, dark bedroom smells like satan's butt.

maybe i'll eat some chocolate and watch a movie.

We're not having the best Christmas here either. We went out to eat this morning (Waffle House) because I was nauseated and the idea of cooking was too much. Then while we're there DD starts wheezing. Then we get home and have to do albuterol. And now she's getting sicker, we just did a treatment 1.5 hours ago and she's starting to sound like she needs another one. I do NOT want to go to the ER today :

That cure does sound, um, smelly

I cried myself to sleep last night, and ended up only sleeping for a couple of hours. And I've already had a good cry this morning. We're skipping Christmas until we get "home" to Tennessee, which should have been BEFORE Christmas, but it all got held up in paperwork.

It's been a crappy year this year, and I completely lost the Christmas spirit a couple of weeks ago. It's now a day that I just want to get through.

DD and I are going to be making chocolate chip cookies in a few hours, and to be honest, that's really all I want to eat today.

to you guys...hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

Your description is funny. , I'm sorry you're having a crappy Christmas. My Dh stayed in bed all day too. It;s not our holiday and our littlest DC's were in school today, we could have gone out for chinese and a movie, we could have had an actual day time date! But he'd rather stay in bed . But my little ones have found a new favorite song this season, Felize Navidad, which my 3 year old has been singing since she heard it, and even last night when we went to our (Orthodox) synagogue for pizza night! "I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas, from the bottom of my heart", from the top of her lungs!

Ksera, I hope you didn't end up at the ER and your little one is feeling better this evening, I hope all of your Christmas evenings are better.

Oh! They just found it on the radio, it's blaring through the house!
That should get Dh out of bed!

Ksera, my girls are wheezing, too. It's the first dry day in an age, I think the shift caught them both off guard and they're wheezing like a pair of twin bellows.

I told mike to take the kids out of the house. Christmas isn't really my thing (could it be because I was raised Jewish and now practice Chaos magick? Nah, that can't be it. . . ) in general, and this year I just feel poopy in general. I think mike put it best when he said (by way of ending an aim conversation), "I'd better get going before Rynna decides we have too many children." : my friend cut & pasted that bit for me, to which I could only respond, "I've already decided we have too many children, that's why he has to go-- to get them out of here before I decide where to begin the culling." : He kept them out long enough that they were cute again when they got back home, but not long enough for me to magically turn sane again.

Ds had a great Christmas. Lots of wonderful learning toys and he absolutely loves the bubbles mommy bought him.

DH got his gift a few weeks ago ($150 tool set he's been asking for for months was on sale for $99, but he was with me so I just bought it and said Merry Christmas) and has been enjoying it.

What did I get today you ask?

Nothing.

Nada.

Zip.

No I love you. No merry christmas baby. No kiss my *$^%.

Nothing.

Oh wait I got a set of satin PJs from my mom. Too bad I sleep naked.

Oh mommy2austin, I love you, and Merry Christmas baby, and you can kiss my *$^%, if you really want to. I didn't get anything for Chanukah either, not a thing.

I'm sorry you ladies aren't having th best time of it.

I pretty much spent all Christmas Eve day crying over one thing or another. I'm just exhausted!!!!! All the time. I have no idea how I'm supposed to drag through another 9 weeks at this pace.

Dh really jumped in and made the day wonderful for the girls and his family, who came over for breakfast AND dinner. And he made me the most beautiful cutting boards as a gift that he has been working on for months and I didn't even find out!!

Of course I feel even crappier b/c I spent most of yesterday complaining and making him feel like he doesn't do enough. Which isn't true! I'm just so tired and sore, and there are so many things to do, that I'd need 6 of him to feel I was getting enough help.

But thank GOODNESS he isn't sick!!!! There is nothing worse than when he needs to be babied over something minor. I am not his mother, I have be a mother to his children, who ARE sick. Fingers crossed he stays healthy--I so can't deal with that right now.

laughuplaughup::

Thank you for that...I literally had to hold my breath so I didn't actually LOL and I have tears bubbling up :P

I've been in a foul mood for two days (depressed and short) and DH keeps badgering me to find out why I'm upset. How do you tell someone you're upset because you didn't matter enough to be bought a gift or even acknowledged?

Mommy2Austin - I can't even begin to imagine how much that must suck. My husband is in "apology" mode right now since he passed out on the couch at my parent's house this afternoon with a headache, and it just drives me up a wall. I told him it was all right, my sisters really helped with wrangling Michael so all I had to do was sit and watch my extremeties slowly swell up, but if the sorry's continue for much longer, I'm going to start getting really pissed and remember each and every time I woke up last night while he peacefully slumbered next to me.

I'm so sorry Gimme their email addresses, I'm going to tell each and every one of them what I think of them.

Well DH finally realized why I was ticked. First he pulled the "I'm really sorry" thing quickly running into the "but we're broke right now so you have to understand its not my fault." I was like Whaaaa? Yes I know we're broke right now. Christmas comes every year at the same freakin time, though. You could have stowed away a few bucks and got me something or at least planned something for me (i.e. give me a break day.) So I say something to that effect and he says "Well do you want me to do the dishes and clean the house?" I'm like no. I do not. Because if you can't be creative and come up with something on your own (I gave him plenty of hints in the last few months) then it's not worth it to me. Sorry just the way I feel.

I'm not mad at him. I'm just sad and hurt. I've had 1 nice birthday out of the 3 we've been married for. The past 2 (not including this year) christmas' we've been together I've gotten gifts that he put thought into. Nothing grand or anything, but stuff I could use and be happy with (i.e. some nice cookie sheets to replace the nasty ones we had.)

So right now I'm trying to be a good person and rise above. :P Easier said than done!!

Sorry I feel like I hijacked the thread. I just had a crappy Christmas and thought to empathize with the others

yay! my day ended in the er last night. dh got worse at my parent's house last night and couldn't breathe. bronchiospasms.

did i also mention that my house is in peices? dh started putting in new floors (our present to each other, it's a little bit of a nightmare right now) in the living room last week, and they're obviously NOT done, because he's been sick the past 4 days. so, instead of having christmas at our house yesterday morning, we had to go to his parents for lunch and my parents for dinner. oh well.

: to everyone! I had a great / horrible Christmas here. Started out great w/ kids opening gifts and being all excited ... then I made breakfast, which dh served to the kids and himself as I was still cooking it so I didn't get to join my family for breakfast. Then I come out of the kitchen 20 minutes after they're done eating after having finished making the last of the pancakes and cleaning up a bit (since there was no one left at the table anyway) and dh was playing on the computer - the game he knows pisses me off to no end because it takes all of his attention and he can't just quit or pause whenever...he has to spend 5-10 minutes getting somewhere safe before he can quit. The kids hate when he plays this game as well and we had a major fight about it (after days of discussing the topic and it not registering in his brain exactly how hurtful it is to us that he's addicted to this game and ignores us and all his responsibilities in favor of playing it). I think he finally got the point (maybe) and we concluded our arguement, got ready to go, and had a good time at my parents' house after dropping off cookies and gifts to a friend and the residents at her workplace (physically and mentally handicapped adults). My dh spent most of the time at my parents house napping on the couch while I helped out with the meal, wrangled kids, etc. Why? Because he'd stayed up half the night playing the blasted game!

We got home and I crashed on the couch - and this morning I'm SO sick w/ congestion, sore throat, coughing, etc. and dh is at work for 12 hours...he won't be back until long after the kids are in bed. Luckily the kids have a few toys from Christmas that will keep them occupied for a while.

dude. boys are the worst when they are sick. it's like it's the end of the friggin' world! the only time i don't go to work is if i'm puking. delirious with fever? fine. coughing? whatever. runny nose? use a tissue.

my dh is the same way! we'll even get the same cold and he's passed out in bed and i'm up taking care of our ds.

i can totally commiserate with you. it is so frustrating when my dh gets like this that i end up fighting with him because i'm like, "just grow up!! your mommy isn't here to take care of you so stop whining!!"

good luck! and i hope the vinegar thing doesn't work so your room starts smelling better

my husband's been like that with Gemstone. I seriously threatened divorce-- twice-- over this game. It was just getting really, really old. It's less of a problem these days, but it still comes up every now and then. I guess things are easier now that I play, too. :

I had a totally crappy Christmas! LITERALLY. I woke up at 5 am with either food poisoning or the stomach flu--AGAIN (had it 6 weeks ago). WTF?? I love Christmas and was so excited, so this really sucked. I opened most of my presents while sitting on the john, and to add to the fun I started having contractions every 15 minutes and we almost went to the ER. Fun times!

s mamas! wow I hope everyone is ok!

and I thought our Christmas ended badly with ds waking up having nightmares for 3 hours straight and finally falling asleep peacefully at 1:00am! Heck, I guess I should just be happy that this was his first Christmas that he didn't have a total meltdown and spend it crying the whole time at dp's family with everyone looking at us like "god what's wrong with him?" The joys of trying to do the normal Christmas thing with a child who has sensory issues and breaks down when surrounded with too much stimuli...I'm just glad he was happy while we were there even if the night did end in nightmares...
