How well did your homemade toys go over?

My dds loved their play mats.

Dd1 was going on and on about how mommy made her an ocean playmat with an island and a beach and a whale and a dolphin and a starfish and how daddy got her the pirates to go with them (well, technically, I bought them, but dd was in the same store when I got them, but I gave him the credit for it).

Dd1 stayed up late last night with me to play with her playmat. It was fun.

All the dds loved the wooden animals and peg people I finally finished painting and the farm play mat.

I had to put dd3's play mat and felt foods up for a bit because she wanted to play with the gnomes and the felt food, but she has pinkeye at the moment. Or did yesterday but that breastmilk is clearing up nicely for her. So I will pull hers out after I make sure it's gone.

I need to make another mushroom table and chairs set though because they really liked that too.

Anyone else feel all their hard work paid off?

I don't think I worked nearly as hard as you did, but everyone seemed to love their little animals! What I loved especially was that the moms and dads loved them just as much as the kids did. Hopefully they hold up under some intense playing

I don't ever want to be the gift giver who makes parents cringe

Well, I made 6 Waldorf dolls for the kids, and I think they went over well.

I got in over my head with it, though. I had to stay up literally the entire night on the 23rd and got only 3 hours of sleep on the night of the 24th, and I still didn't get done! I got all the dolls' bodies finished, but I didn't finish the hair and clothing. They all got at least a hat and simple clothing and a promise to get to help finish making them very soon.

I made about 75% of the gifts I gave this year and I am over the moon happy with the responses I got

DD just loves everything, I asked her to pick a fave and she couldn't Here's some pics of what I gave: http://www.freewebs.com/lanugo/lanug...ntryid=2664780
