We had Reese's two week checkup today. The doctor we saw is in our normal practice, but is not our normal doctor. We saw him for the follow-up visit after we left the NICU and out of him, our doctor, and my MW's backup doctor, he was the one with an available appointment. The joys of a large teaching hospital clinic!
Anyway, Reese is now 7lbs 11oz completely naked. She was 7lbs at birth and got down to 6lbs 11oz. So she's doing great. She's grown about a half inch as well, making her 21". He confirmed my suspicions that we still have thrush from the NICU stay with the abx. And told me to get some gentian violet for it, which I'd planned on doing anyway.
The doctor asked our vax plans and I explained how we were definitely not vaxing her yet since she's EBF, but that I was looking at whether or not I was going to start with dd1 since our situation has changed since we decided not to vax her (my mom is doing more daycare, so we're around a lot of school age kids) and that there were a couple I was doing research on. He suggested the two vaxes he would recommend out of all of them (DTaP and HIB), but said to do my research and if I had anymore questions let him know. He seemed to be very balanced on the issue, which was kind of refreshing.
All-in-all it was a great appointment. He told us since we aren't vaxing her we can decide when to bring her back in for another checkup.
