Man, I sit down to type the birth story and realize its currently nighttime and I dont have electricity in here right now. (Dont ask, half the friggin house is out. I want to go back to renting damnit.)
So I am going to make it short and I'll write the literary version at some point...when I have enough energy, during the day.
She was ALMOST a uc! (I knew it....I KNEW IT!) My midwife had only arrived at the house about 15 minutes before she was born. It was awesome.
I labored in the tub for a while. I was actually trying to slow labor down so the MW could come! I don't know if it worked. It was awesome having NO interventions and it was like I could do what *MY* body and baby needed me to.
At 9:30 Christmas Eve, I started timing ctx every 10 minutes and about 1 min 20 sec long. They weren't really powerful so I chalked them up to braxton hicks. I called my midwife at 11:00 just to give her a "heads up" that I was having them regularly and who knows....
We could have a christmas baby.
I told her I was too tired to have a baby that night and i was going to bed. I stayed up and timed ctx till 11:00 and they hadn't stopped so I decided I better go to bed for real to get some sleep! But I couldnt sleep and I was sort of in pain at this point during a ctx. Dh and I looked at eachother baffled like "What are we supposed to do?"
I REALLY didn't want to call my MW on xmas eve. (I know its her job, but she has 4 kids herself...and I just felt like I could "prevent" the baby from coming then.)
I finally got in the tub at about 11:30 and said "CALL HER." My ctx had changed at that point and were only 30-40 seconds long and coming every couple of minutes. I was breathing heavily and moaning through them. I told dh-"Tell her I am moaning!" LOL.
I kind of freaked out during the transition stage. I was hitting the tub and being loud and flailing around alot. My hands stiffened up and I wasn't breathing correctly and I couldnt get "ahead" to breathe through a ctx. I asked for oxygen. It HELPED SO MUCH. I really needed it. I pushed...2 times. (Same with dd, 2 yrs ago!) My children had woken up just before she was born. They were in and out of the small bathroom. I think they were not in there for the actual birth. But within minutes, they were meeting their new baby sister....she was born at 1:30 AM on Christmas Day.
I didn't even think to check her genetalia for several minutes...I was just in love with my baby.
I thought I would want to know IMMEDIETLY....or someone would yell it out or something!
The kids were awake from 1-4 AM Christmas....went to bed until 9 AM.....had christmas and presents....went to their mimi's house for the night....and today is dd's 2nd birthday!
So we have been busy, to say the least. Just trying to get some rest!!!
Oh, and a funny thing: I later noticed that dh had the "EMERGENCY BIRTH" website up on the computer the whole time. He had been touching up just in case, and was so proud of himself for knowing what to do. I was proud of him too...he is so awesome.
After the birth he was actually dissapointed that he didnt get to catch the baby, and I think a little bummed it wasnt a UC. (Mr. I want to be at the birth center because its by the GOOD hospital)
He also informed me he see's us having 7 kids.
: (Mr. I ONLY want 2 kids...)
I think he is a birth junkie now.
Stats:
Marley (middle name still TBA...)
7 lbs 9 oz
21 inches long
looks like her daddy.
Just a couple of pictures.
