where to put diaper cream?

Hi all - I decided not to circ my son, largely based on reading this forum. Now I have a question that I hope that you can help me answer. My 10 month old ds has a diaper rash for the first time because he is on antibiotics. The tip of his foreskin is red as well. Now to the qestion- where all do I put the diaper cream? Can I put it on the tip of his foreskin, or will that get inside and cause infection? Any advice would be appreciated! thanks! (By the way, I think he has a yeast infection as well, so I need to know if I put the Monistat on the tip of the foreskin or not as well.....)

Thanks so much-
Stephanie

My ds just had diaper rash and we slathered the diaper rash cream all over. We didn't put any on the tip of the foreskin though. I think that might block the exit of urine.

You can put both the diaper cream and the monistate on the tip of the penis but do so very sparingly. Put the majority around the outside very close to the tip but only a tiny bit on the very tip. That way nothing will get blocked off.

I doubt any kind of cream would block urination, or cause infections. I always use a dilute vinegar and water rinse on a cloth wipe to prevent diaper rashes, as the mild acid of vinegar kills yeast, but is good for the skin. If you are using disposable wipes, pour a few tablespoons of vinegar right into the wipes box.
