We're currently in Wisconsin for the holidays. A few days ago, he went out to the bar with some friends of ours (pregnant ol' me stayed behind), and came home with an "if I were still my college self or a whole lot drunker, I'd have gotten into a fight" story.

Great, I thought.

But apparently one of our friends brought his semi-casual hook-up from the night before (this friend is 28 but acts like he's 19 in SO MANY WAYS). Aforementioned hook-up was now stuck in town (he's from elsewhere, I guess) after the hook-up because of the snowstorm and resulting sketchy roads.

He congratulated DH on the pregnancy, asked if we knew the sex (we do... boy), and the first words out of his mouth were, "Well, god, I hope you circumcise him," and went on to explain all about why, in his personal opinion, uncircumcised penises were "gross."

DH (who is NOT intact) countered, apparently, with all sorts of reasons why circ'ing is bad for the man (heck, I didn't know he had done his research... I thought he was just going along with what I wanted). Friend's Hook-Up countered with (a repeat of) "but it looks gross!"

DH, knowing a lost cause when he sees one, let it drop. But isn't he just CUTE?!

I agree. I think I would've gotten defensive in that situation.

For a second when you said "let it drop" I thought you meant he dropped his pants to show off his intact penis.

OOPS... I just realize I left out the "not," in DH is NOT intact. He's actually a kind of grumpy circ'ed guy... but "your unborn son's penis is gross" is probably just as much bar-fighting talk as "your penis is gross."

That totally changes meaning... but I still hold my initial position that it was awfully sweet of him to come to the defense of our yet-unborn kid's genital integrity.

I always find it so strange that on this site it seems to be the wives educating the husbands about circumcision!

ugh..

Some ppl are so shallow!

Personally, I like the looks of the natural penis. This is NOT a fetish! A foreskin is included in human blueprint. This is entirely NORMAL! The ones who can't handle a normal set of genitals are the ones with a fetish.

Some people don't realize that a normal intact male will bare his glans while he is in the state of arousal. Exposing the glans permanently suggests a horny looking penis in its flaccid state. It takes a SICK mind to want to see that on a newborn.

Well, the site IS called Mothering. It might be the other way around if it was Fathering, and primarily male based.

Good for your DH. My husband finds himself in situations like these too, I always get so proud of him when he brings stories home! I cant help but roll my eyes at the gross penis comments. They are so common, but 95% of the people who make the comments have never seen an intact penis in person.
