Its the detachment parents way to sling. (Not the bathroom wall hanger, thats just hilarious.)

And for babywearing and bathrooming - at 8months pregnant I was able to wear my 37lb 2.5year old on my back in the mei tai while peeing in a public restroom.
You learn to adapt.

All I have to say is WHAT THE HELL!

How much more complicated can they make this? Baby luggae? A strap for your car seat?? Why not just attach the crib to the back of your car like a trailer?

I really REALLY don't understand the strap for carrying the baby bucket over your shoulder. Thats insanity. Those baby buckets are SO HEAVY! Whenever I see people carrying the baby buckets through stores, it seriously boggles my mind. I don't think I can even carry mine with a baby in it. Its too heavy, and I'm too weak and pathetic.

I couldn't do it.
I had DP do it everytime.

I'm a weakling. They just threw off my coordination entirely.

I wonder if the stress these straps put on the carseat is safe for the seat or if it voids the warranty... I'd bet that carseat manufacturers would tell you not to use something like that because they don't know how it wears the plastic.

About the first product linked...

It is copy of a extremely popular item in Scandinavia - the Voksi Pose
Everyone I know in Scandinavia has one and knowing a bit more about having babies in Scandinavia, you know why. People there own these HUGE prams They look cumbersome, but there are two great reason for having one there:

1. If you don't own a car (which MANY people there don't) and need to bring baby + groceries home, they are very handy.
2. Babies take their naps outside because everyone there agrees that babies sleep better and longer in fresh air (and yes, people put listen to baby monitors and check on their little ones often ). They prams must be big enough so babies up to 2 years of age can nap comfortably in them. Oh, and they make special 'seat belts" the babies wear at all times so they don't fall out the pram and the prams are constructed never to tip over.

That's where the Voksi bag comes in. Think of Scandinavian winter - you will want a super warm and cosy sleeping bag for your baby to sleep in of course. The Voksi is so great that your baby stays warm to sleep outside even in Norway! And obviously, when you need to bring the baby in, you don't want to have to take him out of the cosy bag and expose him to the cold -- that's why the Voksi has handles!!

The Voksi was never meant to be used the way bucket seats are used in the US (the ToysRUs product seems to advertise the product as a convenient way to transport the baby!). At least, I have never seen parents in Denmark transport their babies in them like that! The handles are just for VERY SHORT trips - from home to pram OR from pram to car, etc.

I also love how the Voksi makes the best play mat ever!

Anyway, I just had to come out of hiding and defend my Voksi. I LOVE IT, even though I have since stopped using prams and am now a babywearer...

Exactly!!
They are marketing as a smart way to carry the baby AROUND! That's ridiculous! The product itself, as it is used in Scandinavia, is awesome

that reminds me of a terrible product i wanted to invent before i had kids.

when you go to theme parks (disneyland) and the kids are too small to go on the rides, i thought (OK i was a teenager) that it would be smart to have locking baby seats where you insert a quarter and lock your baby into the seat (it's under a tree of course) and once the kid is in, the key is released. you go on the ride and when you get off, you can unlock the kid and go get in line for the next ride. they'd only be there for as long as the ride lasts, because the little locking seat thing is right up by the ride. they would be entertained because everyone waiting would be cooing at them and they'd get to watch all the people going past on the ride.

terrible, i know. but no worse than the baby door hanger. And i am really concerned about the duct tape thing. although it looks like fun, it just smells abusive, slthough i noticed baby's limbs were free and skin wasn't covered.

hmmm
