kicks

I am not sure if I should call the midwife or not.

I started doing a kick count at 5:15 after having some juice, and a few slices of cheese and laying down, the baby has moved 5 times, it is now 5:30. It says that 5 kicks in 30 mins is good, but he doesn't seem to be as active as he usually is. I have been noticing this for the last 2 or 3 days.
These kicks have been very small and faint, like flutters, he usually kicks really hard, so hard that you can see my belly move.

What do you think?

Same thing here, and we went in for monitoring. If you're worried, call.

FWIW, we got him moving with me in a hot bath with a pack of frozen brussel sprouts on the top of my tummy.

My baby moves very lightly and very little during the day so I would not be worried with 5 light movements in 15 minutes. But I think that if you are concerned, you should call.

I have not actually layed down to do kick counts yet but over the past few days it seems her movements have dropped drastically. Usually I wouldn't worry at all because I know this is the time they start not having much room but then my weight has dropped so drastically. Got on the scale again this morning and I was down another pound. That makes 12 pounds. It is kind of hard to get in right now to see the doc because the kids are not in school. But if things are still like this tomorrow then I think they are going to have to suck it up and come with mommy.

Carlito'sWife, I hope everything is ok! Keep us posted...

Birthmom, Baby here is so very different day-to-day. I was super-active the last 2 weeks, and as a result, baby hung out pretty calmly. Now that the holiday craziness is over, I've been getting big rolls. Certainly from hour to hour, there is nothing consistent enough about either the frequency or type of movement that I worry about it (much)...the little flutters seem to be when it's in moving-hands-around mode, and the big rolls are when it's more energetic.

But if you are worried, call! It's always good to be sure.

If you're nervous, call. However, its pretty common for kicks to slow down the further along you get because its more squished in there. They say 10 kicks in an hour is great.

it's funny how we become so attuned to those kicks!

mine will not move all day and then kick up a storm. what always works for me is a glass of cold water. even when i just want to sleep it always wakes the baby up.

i'd call if you are concerned too. you know your baby best.

you might want to try a glass of really cold water first and see if baby starts to move more.

fingers crossed mama!

I am having the exact same thing - used to be he'd kick so hard you could see it, but not for the last few days. The movements have become very faint.

But late in the evening, he starts stretching and rolling. I'd say give it a whole day and see what there is to see... and then call. No point in torturing yourself, wondering.

I have been resting, and got some nice cold water. he is moving a bit more now.

I think I will just watch it.

I had a day of really low activity last week -- then two days of insanity -- then sort of "regular" activity. I think our kiddos are 1) growing! and therefore SLEEPING! 2) changing into more newborn-like patterns of awake/sleep 3) getting squished. Scary but usually resolves itself (I say as my kid claws my bellybutton!).
