Need overnight dipes....materials suggestions please!

I need to make some overnight dipes for my super-wetter. My main concern is him staying as dry as possible through the night, as well as something that I won't be concerned about layers getting clean/dry enough.

I know how to make basic diapers, but I've no idea what to make these particular dipes out of, how many layers, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

My current fave for night is a fitted: body - 2 layers org, velour, 1 layer org. flannel (heavy wt.). Soaker 2 layers org. flannel. Trifold Doubler - 1layer org. flannel, layer org. velour. All are 100% cotton.
PUL cover.
This gives 3 body layers & 8 layers in the middle while still washing & drying well. I made this set last mo. for my super soaker.

Have you ever tried breathable diapers? I have a heavy wetter, and the WindPro, which is milled by Malden Mills works great for me. I think it is because, unlike PUL, which is smooth and slick on its waterproof side, the breathable fleece is bumpy inside, so the wetness does not slide off and out of the diaper, but actually has more time to absorb in the soaker pad because of the increased surface area and little nooks and crannies the fleece offers. I don't know if this will make sense at all! But if not, Ill try and explain it again, lol!

Adorable set you made!

I'll be heading to the fabric store next week. I have PUL and flannel on hand, can't afford organic, but I think I'll be picking up some velour as well.

Any opinions on microfleece as the layer next to baby's skin? I've read some and this seems to be a good way to keep the moisture off his tush.

I always recommend making a test diaper of each fabric combination before diving in and making a whole bunch. I'm really a cotton next to baby kind of gal - so for me, I cut out hourglass shapes of microfleece and lay them in the diapers when I want them. This works better for me than sewing a layer of it in because then it's there all the time.
You may want to look into threads on FuzziBunz here - I have not used them myself, but I do see threads about them leaking. I think when you have microfleece you may need to strip the diapers now and then.

So use a cover made with fleece instead of PUL? Where do you find WindPro?
Also, would this make my DS warmer than a PUL cover? Here in the south I wouldn't want his diaper making him too hot.
