Midwife thank you gift?

Are others of you getting your mw a thank you gift? If so, what are you planning on giving her? I need some ideas.

I've noticed at my midwife's birth center she has tons of nick knacks and cutesy stuff that I assume have been given as gifts and are difficult for her to discard..... So I was thinking of a really heartfelt card and maybe a gift certificate for a nice restaurant or book store. I think she would appreciate a letter/card more than anything. Plus, not like I haven't already paid out the wazoo for her (albiet excellent) services!

We got her a rainbow gemstone chakra bracelet because she likes stuff like that and it is really pretty.
I just don't know when I'm supposed to give it to her. After the birth while she is still here? Or afterward the next time I see her when she checks the baby????

At the beginning I said I wasn't going to get her anything cause I'd paid so much money to her. But now I think I'm going to get her something not sure what though cause they were all so amazing!

I'm making a drawing for my MW. I started it but not done yet. I want to do something else as well but I'm not sure what.

We're doing the same thing we did last time, and brewing a batch of "Babymoon Mead" for the midwives. They have a yearly picnic for all their clients, and we start it brewing around when the kidlet is born and bring it to the picnic in the summer. Elliot's mead was flavored with Orange peel and camomile and rose hips and was nearly too good to give away. I don't know what we're going to do flavor-wise for this baby yet...

I am getting decals for my midwives that say:

Midwifery
1% Occupation
99% Dedication

They can put then on their cars or whatever they want.

I love the 'Midwives help people out' and 'I support perineums!' bumperstickers.

I wondered about this too. My husband said "Isn't the $$$ we're paying them enough?" We ended up paying nearly the same for my c-section (after insurance ) that we're paying for this birth, and this one was SO MUCH BETTER. It only seems right that I get them something extra to show my appreciation.
