can anyone give me tips on how to nurse a newborn in the moby or ergo? i'd like to know how to get her into a nursing position from being worn without having to undo the entire wrap/buckle set-up, and then how to get her from nursing back in. i cannot for the life of me figure this out. i did it successfully once w/the moby purely by accident and have not been able to reproduce it without her screaming bloody murder. when i tried in the ergo, she cried a ton. it's becuase it's hard for me to move her over... getting her latched on shouldn't be a problem, in theory, since i don't have to help her out much with that. it's just moving her to my boob.

As far as the moby goes, instead of putting her in it straight up and down, wrap her in it lower, and have her be sort of diagonal, so that her head is at boob level. At this age, you'll probably have to support her head somewhat while nursing still. I have no clue about nursing in an ergo, that seems like it would be extremely difficult.

I cannot imagine nursing a newborn in the ergo. Unless you have the infant insert, in which case just offer boob on same side as head. A nursing shirt makes this much easier at first. Once they can hold themselves up better, ergo nursing was easy for us but it is in a verticle position and they have to be able to reach your boob, so some height is necessicary too.

I have tried to picture how to do this since I knew you were having issues with it and I was considering a wrap recently...
and without it being summertime so you can just wear a nursing cami- I cannot figure out how it's possible with having to lift your shirt. Even a nursing shirt needs to be adjusted, kwim? But what position do you carry her in in the moby? If you used the cradle position, putting her at boob level and wore a shirt that can be pulled down from the neckline (like a v-neck or something stretchy) rather than lifted up could that work?

The few times we've nursed in the Moby so far, I've just stuck her head in & have held the rest of her. It was easier than trying to get her all adjusted in the wrap.

i wore baby in the moby all day today and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to nurse her in it. I do look forward to actually sitting down to nurse and i use that time to eat (otherwise if forget, and end up starving and sick by bedtime) I can't wait to read this and see how other people manage to nurse a NB in a moby. if i skip enough meals, my butt might actually return to a normal size. and texture.

lisa you crack me up.
hug hold w/legs sticking out. if i do cradle my nipple would have to point down to get in her mouth... or i'm just messing something up.... i'll try a diff shirt approach.
hmmm. her head is too high up to get near my nip. i'll try to wear her such that i can just move her over....
