Help with scheduling...cleaning, cooking, blah-buh-blah.....

I know I need help with......

*waking up and getting going, but you do kinda need to know where your going. I never do. I try to think about it before bed. I love lists....but they tend to get to long and overwhelming and I spend more time making lists than being productive......because I don't know what to do.

I have a kinda clean house, but I want to be efficient. I want to know what the heck my day has in store for me.....and I don't think it would be a bad idea for my boys too. I'm sure they would be thrilled to have some sort of agenda.

help.

Getting right up & getting dressed helps me. Choosing a few spots of the house that must always be tidy & then expanding from there helps too. For instance, I insist on vacuuming the family room daily. That means the toys must be picked up (usually put onto the couch.) Then I set a timer & we race to see who can get the toys put away before the timer goes off.

Seeking out & trying new recipes has helped me immensely with being motivated to cook.

I struggle with this, too. The Motivated Moms chore planners have been a Godsend for me.

Here are my DMR's (Daily Minimum Requirements) that I've used for the past couple years:

Morning:

1.Make beds & pick up bedrooms
2.One load laundry – washed & hung on clothesline/tossed in dryer
3.Unload/Load/Run dishwasher
4.Kitchen counters wiped down after breakfast

Afternoon:

1.Fold and put away morning laundry
2.Walk/read with DD
3.Meal preparations

Evening:

1.Pick up toys and books
2.Pick up kitchen – vacuum up crumbs
3.Put away shoes
4.Go through papers – dump or file
5.Quiet time

Is there a place on the web where I can print up something like Motivated moms chart for free? I really like what they have to offer but im pretty frugal

Maybe I should just purchase it. It does look really good.

Try www.flylady.net Her system is more of a complete lifestyle change, but it's well worth it!! Plus you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to!

I just noticed that you can download the 2002 version free on the site... and 2008's dates all line up with 2002!

Yeah, and I've found I can take what works for me, and leave the rest.

Aw, thank you guys. I'm off to see what I can peice out of MM and FL. I hope this works for me. I am not for NY's resolution, but now is a good time to try to start to get things under control. Most of the chaos of the holidays is over and I can focus again........oh ya, and I have a bazillion peices of cr@p, I mean gifts that are laying around and don't have a home. I need to declutter too, did I mention that? I want to be a great homemaker, I want to love my job and be good at it. My priority of course is my boys, but I think they will benefit from this.

i'm also not big on "new year's resolutions" because it just seems like a silly joke now. however, i love the idea of a fresh start (for me, it's always been the new school year, but i don't have that anymore ) and last year i finally figured out how to make the "new year" thing work for me.

a year ago, i was in my prenatal yoga class and we always had a discussion ahead of time. our topic was "what are you going to promise yourself in the new year?" and when it was phrased that way, something i'm doing for myself instead of a "should" thing that i don't really want to do, it clicked. i also think it was big for me to say it out loud to a group of women i continued to spend time with! (it was creating a budget and sticking to it, which i had attempted many times in the past but it actually worked this time.)

just something to think about for the next, oh, sixteen hours?

Flylady has a section for kids too I think. I don't know how old your boys are but if they are old enough to clean there's a section for them! On the Flylady site on the left hand column theres something called the "Table of Contents." If you click it and scroll down towards the bottom of the page it has a place for FLYing with kids!

Thanks for the MM link!

Personally, I find FlyLady to be just a bit overwhelming, and a little irritating too : - but that's just me. My MIL and my SIL are FL devotees, and it works for them; but I prefer MM.

check out this thread.
http://www.mothering.com/discussions...agement+binder
You can make your own home management binder with all the "systems" in it you need to run your home. I have and I'm loving it. It's 100% tailored to my family and my needs. I have purchased several commerically produced systems, but they were never completely "it". This is it! It's completely adaptable and because I downloaded most of the printables for free from teh web, the cost was minimal.

Thanks, I went ahead and printed this out, I've also subscribed to FlyLady, which might overwhelm me, but it's just more information that I can pick and chose and taylor from. Thanks!
