Knitters, the final countdown....

OK, we have on average 6 weeks. No excuses, no major holidays. What have you got done, and what is yet to do? And can you kick my backside to keep me knitting, rather than on MDC?

My to-knit list:
1 pair variegated longies, with matching hat
1 pair green longies
2 pairs natural longies (feel free to talk me out of this on the BM poo grounds.)

Trellis from Knitty
A baby yoda, in natural undyed something.... (see above comments about longies)
The seam on the jumper I knitted this time LAST year, for a whole different pregnancy...
Another top-down raglan cardigan. Unless I can find a sweater pattern I like more...

And my nearly-finisheds...
Peapod cardigan
The sweater that just needs seaming.
BSJ

Oh, plus I have to do a matching set of socks, four in total, in true Welcome with Love style. What WAS I thinking?

I feel like I have HOMEWORK with these projects!!

Done:
adorable little hat

To do:
Finish blanket (only done with 10% )
Finish cute little sweater (barely started )
Make soaker out of wool (haven't even started!! but I think I'll make a bigger size to be used later on, so this isn't pressing although obviously getting it done before the baby gets here would be good)

So far I've made:

3 soakers
kimono from Mason Dixon knitting
Stripey slippers from LTK

on the needles-
1 wrap style soaker

I plan on doing at least 1 pr of longies and then moving on to shorts since we are in the south and shorts season is a bit longer than longies season.

I just got the diaper/cover stash I gave my sister back, so I really don't have that much to do. I have 1 pair of longies, one wool cover (maybe I'll make more), 10 bummis style covers I made and lots o' diapers. I gave away the newborn hat I knitted to a premie in my neighborhood, so I'll have to make another of those.

I thought that I would take my time and make something cute for the babe to wear, so I found a really swell pattern for a cabled romper. It is from Rebecca Online (a german site) and took me a while to interpret the slightly wonky pattern language. I have one leg almost done now and it is really purrrty. I have never done any cabling before, so I am seriously proud of how it is turning out.

I don't know if I'll finish things by the birth. I am really getting nesty and am probably going to spend lots of time cleaning in the upcoming weeks. I am seriously feeling like this babe is going to come sooner than later and I won't be ready!

Done:
2 pairs of socks
Orange Malabrigo longies
Red curly-toed booties
Silk/Cashmere nursing pads

In progress
Orange/Teal EZ Feb Sweater (just needs buttons)
Spring EZ Feb Sweater (needs a sleeve, ends woven & buttons)
Koigue BSJ (needs cuffs, ends woven, collar & buttons)
Gnomey (needs ear flaps)

Still to do:
Longies in cascade 220 rusty brown (to go with EZ Feb sweaters)
Bunting in hand-dyed Peace Fleece
at least 3-4 pairs of socks
2-3 soakers (although I have enough covers to do me through the newborn period so this isn't vital)
another Gnomey hat in Malabrigo to match BSJ for coming home outfit
2-3 more pairs of nursing pads

Of course, I'm still finishing up my swap partner's knitting (I'll be washing and blocking tonight), I have at least 5 Christmas presents left to do and a whole bunch of korknisse that have to be done for Tuesday, I have the knitting half-done on a present for another mama's babe to be (which has been radically scaled back), and I have a pair of socks and felted slippers on the needles for myself not to mention the simple knitted bodice I started back in November.

This of course does not include the sewing I have yet to do. I strongly suspect mama-pads are falling by the wayside.

Do I get some sort of prize for my ambition :P ?

Nah, we just get to commiserate together when we fail dismally... I just feel guilty because I've knitted far more for a few other February babies than I have for my own

On the bright side, because we barricaded ourselves in today and the net was playing up, I finished the first sleeve on peapod.

boy y'all have so many projects i almost feel funny posting.

i just finished a basket stitch scarf for ds (started about 4 months ago) and of course, as soon as i'm done he says, "mama, i like blue better than green."

to do:

a cute berry tart hat from knitty
a pair of soft wool longies
a pair of mittens for myself
a sweater for our poor cold dog

i'm visiting my mom for almost a week so i'm hoping for some serious progress on the tart hat. it's so friggin' CUTE!!

I love that pattern, and I really want to find a baby girl to knit it for. I think Skye's a bit big now.

Nausicaamom,

Silk/Cashmere nursing pads!!!??? How luxurious! Sounds wonderful.

Please, somebody, make me get busy on this stuff!!!

Baby Yoda sweater: all done, seamed up,except it needs one more sleeve! Honestly, just finish it already! Do the sleeve!!!!!

Sleep sac: All done except for buttons sewn on! Again, just finish it! Sheesh!

Infant hat: probably too small, since my kids seem to have heads roughly the size of a planet. So make another hat already!

Baby booties: I have the yarn and pattern...these will take like an hour. So get started!

Can you sense my frustration with myself???? Ah well, I can always finish it at the hospital while ds sleeps and family members take care of my girls...

Well, I finished the peapod. And I love it, and everyone should make one. It has the cutest (english, not american, sense) ribbing pattern I've seen in a while.

What's the difference in meaning?

You lot seem to use cute for pretty, attractive, easy on the eye. As in "wow, Jenn, your hair is so cute!!!" Over here, it's the province of puppies and toddlers who say sweet things.

can anyone share any simple patterns or good websites to get some? I'm still pretty basic with my skills but am now a pro at scarves and have done a few hats and hand warmers. I'm not good enough to come up with them on my own yet and am having a hard time finding good stuff!

I did just do a cute hat for a friend's baby born about 5 weeks ago but now it's time to focus on my little one

Thanks!!

This is probably going to sound like a really stupid question, but have you seen the sticky at the top of the Yarn Crafts forum?

Baby yoda sweater (you can do this one, it's easy.)
LTK- lots of idiot-proof patterns, including longies, but you have to pay for them.

Oh geez, this thread reminds me that I still need to get a drop spindle, spin the yarn, then start the project. Maybe I need to shoot for a cap for *next* winter :

I have been a super lazy knitter since finding out I was pregnant. Had great aspirations for several projects. I finished a hat yesterday out of Lorna's Laces sock yarn and will be casting on some matching socks for the baby tonight. Started a blanket several times only to rip it out each time. Lucky for me my mom is working on a blanket that is beautiful!!

I aimed low, so I'm totally impressed that I've done anything.

I've finished a pair of size small soaker shorties, and I just started on a pair of longies in newborn size (like, i literally knit as I read here ) which I'll probably finish tomorrow or Sunday (if I don't kill my husband; that takes a lot of energy & time ). I also knitted a pair of 3T longies for someone else, and I've got to take those to the post office. I found a ball of cream colored cashmere blend yarn, and I'll probably knit Seamonkey something out of that (either a sweater or longies, I haven't decided yet), too.

I have a free pattern for cute little booties, I'll probably work those up in cotton yarn if I can find the right weight in my stash. They're a short project, baby booties are 45 minutes, tops.

So that's a lot more than I expected to get done (which was nothing ).

Sorry to invade your DDC, but I can't resist knitting talk. Just a warning about Trellis: The rope that appears on each side of the cable is not represented correctly in the chart on knitty. I'm not sure, but I think it could be corrected by doing this:

O O O O
O O / /
O O O O
O / / O
O O O O
/ / O O

where O=knit and / /=left twist

Does that make sense?

I wasn't careful and made the whole sweater with that twist coming out wrong. It still looks cute and was fun to knit though.

I'm currently making this:
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2007/08...k-pattern.html

it's natural (Lion's brand Fishermen's wool...bleah, but cheap) and I'm going to dye it using kool-aid.

and then I need to dye some yarn for Sydney and make her a pair of longies.

after that, I might make a blanket, I don't know. and that yoda sweater is cute!
