Rhys David was born 12/28 in the water at home after 4 hours of labor and 18 minutes of pushing, in the middle of a vicious snowstorm. He is 8.5 pounds and 18.5 inches long and still feels like a teeny-tiny peanut compared to his brother who was 9+lbs at birth. Breastfeeding is going well, but apparently we have another GERDling, because the spitting up is already mighty. My poor kids.
He also apparently was born with a nuchal hand, which explains a lot -- everything from the totally random breaking of my water at 39w4d to why I could have sworn in the later part of pregnancy that there was a badger with claws digging into my cervix. And given the fingernails he was born with, there kind of was.
Elliot is somewhere between fascinated and vaguely horrified at having a little brother and is pretty much ignoring the whole proceedings. I'm feeling surprizingly great -- my broken crotch hurts less, I only had the tiniest 1st degree tear (due to the nuchal hand), and I'm enjoying eating food and snuggling the baby. DH, unfortunately, has a vicious case of insomnia AND is taking care of his Toddler Highness while I'm grounded to my bed. Poor guy.
