Catching up from the last couple of days. I'm starting to crash at the end of the month. I *think* I can hold it together for the last couple of days. It's always the same- I do so well at the beginning of the month, but lose initiative at towards the end of the month.

If I can make it until Thursday without spending, I'll still be within budget (over in some categories, under in other categories). Go me!

OK. I spent $110 at the GW today. However, a bunch of it was on DVDs that I am re-selling at a profit on Amazon. And some was on a sweater, pair of jeans, and dress that are helping my self-esteem immeasurably. So even though I spent more than I budgeted, it was still a good day.

From the joint account we spent $103 on a plumbing bill. Sucks, but can't avoid it. Having dinner with friends tonight, so I don't anticipate any more spending.

Edited because I was wrong about not spending tonight...

Joint:
1/5: $40 take-out
1/6: $12 movie tickets, $37 dinner out, $90 Target (snack foods and housewares, nothing unplanned)
1/7: $8 Starbucks breakfast/coffee for both of us
1/8:
1/9: $160 groceries
1/10: cell phones $120, cable $109, gasoline $74, DSL/phone $56
1/11: $26 at Italian market
1/12: $7 donuts (bad!), $89 Target (on exciting stuff like dog vitamins and air filters), $16 Goodwill (new cast iron, including a La Cruecet tea pot!), $55 gas bill, $174 city bill (electric, trash, water)
1/13: $275 Ikea (rugs, light fixtures, new bedding, all in preparation for house guests), $43 cat food, $8 for a few groceries (making potato leek soup, yum!), $7 for Kleenex and nasal spray
1/14:
1/15:
1/16: $40 for mom's b-day present
1/17: $29 for Abreva and coffee and cream for work; $42 dog food

Welcome caffreemama! I just click on my name up there in the left part of this post and then click on "Find all posts by CrunchyVTMama" and usually my last tally is the first or second post. So I just edit that post and tack on the next day. We're glad you are joining us and hope you have a great last few days and February!

Sarah -- Oh my goodness! I hope your daughter won't have any scarring. Do you have any idea why your dog bit her? That has to be so traumatic for everyone involved. And I hope your other daughter gets to feeling better too. You have bigger things to worry about than saving a few dollars.

our budget is the same as it is every month, we always stick to it, but I am so pleased that I made $400 this week selling the stuff I decluttered. We're saving $ to update our living room and put in a fireplace. With all this cold weather we've been having I can think of nothing but reading in front of the fire after the kids are in bed...

I spent $150 at the grocery store today. It is all organic and I did not buy a single processed food, except DH's candy bar, which he didn't like.

Next month I now to buy no extras and stay within the grocery budget, though I am upping it to $550 (4 trips at $125 and one extra $25 trip). I am going to put the money in an envelope and only go to the store with that money.

Dropped $800+ at Lowe's tonight, but it was all necessary, and did not veer offlist or upgrade on items to my "wish for" versions (i.e. more than half of tonight's spending was a new fridge, and I did not walk out with the jazzy stainless, freezer drawer on the bottom fridge I WANTED).
