Can anyone help me? Woolen basket? Wool hat?

Thread Starter
Our 7th wedding anniversary is on the 13th of Jan.
It is "wool" and I wanted to make a woolen basket or a hat.
Thing is I have NEVER made anything or knitted anything.
Is there any "easy" way I could make this? My friend does have a hat beanie loom I could borrow. It would need to be a close knit though not any gaps.

Here is what I was thinking of for the basket. And a hat like this but just one solid color I am not that talented.

How about making things out of old felted sweaters? Very quick, very cute, cheap, and very, very easy.

_Warm Fuzzies_ by Betz White has both bowls and hats, and they're both fun to make. She's got an online tutorial for the bowls:

I just made mittens & a hat from that book - the mittens took me 20 minutes to make, after I'd felted the sweaters. There's a picture up on my flickr account. I'm in love with this book and technique now!

Oh yes, definitely, stitching washer-felted wool sweaters together would be the way to go. You could make a fabulous bowl. Make a pattern that looks like a box broken down, kind of a fat + shape. Then stitch up the sides and you have a nice wool felt box.
