Yeast/ thrush/ vaginal itchies....

anyone got anything good for them? I have some liquid probiotic drinks and live yoghurt (health food shop doesn't open on Sundays. Or Mondays. Or bank holidays. I'm screwed) and an assortment of essential oils, homoeopathic stuff and flower remedies. What can I do, where do I put it and how do I get it there?

AND

how exactly do you use live yoghurt internally, anyhow?

It won't get rid of the infection, but for the itchies, Lanolin or petroleum jelly or the like slatered on your nethers will help tremendously - I'm too sensitive to OTC remedies and this is the only thing that has worked for me. I've head garlic can help too, just be sure to tie a string around it so you can get it back out

I read that thread too. Unfortunately my tub of lanolin met with an unfortunate end, involving a 2yo, a toilet and an elderly gentleman on iron supplements, and I don't do petroleum anything (except for Vicks, and I'm not putting that there....)

If you've got whole garlic cloves, that's a good cure, try inserting it for 3-5 nights. but as far as itching... I guess you could tie your hands behind your back? hee hee, I don't really know what's a good salve.

Do you have any diaper ointment or cream for Skye - that may help with the itchies and put down a nice barrier.

a cold compress really helps with the itchies, if they are external. If you have any oatmeal bath stuff for your kidlets that helps too, again if they are external itichies.

turkey baster?

really, i have no idea.. but i came to get ideas since im also on antibiotics. i havn't had any yeast symptoms yet, but just in case. i know a garlic clove up there helps but make sure you tie a little sting onto it because ive heard of them getting "lost" im not even trying probiotics till im done with them though.. it will just die off super quickly. i eat yogurt daily anyways, but other than that im just going to wait another 4 days till im done then take lots of probiotics..
i hope it clears up for you mama

Sleep without underwear, and don't wear them in the day either, as much as you are comfortable. Keep the region DRY and aired out. Yeast does not live well like that!! This helps me a ton! If I feel an infection coming on, sometimes just no underwear is enough to head it off at the pass.

If you have a tampon available, you can remove the cotton tampon, and instead fill the applicator with yogurt and insert it that way. I haven't done it myself, but a GREAT nurse practitioner explained it to me in detail and thought it was really helpful in some cases. If the itching/burning is really bad, you can freeze the yogurt-filled tampon (or several), and insert it frozen and that will help a LOT!

Good luck!

Ah-HAH! I can do that! Last night I filled my mooncup and stuck it in, and that helped a lot. I had a hard time getting it out, though : We have some gorgeous nappy creams around at the moment, actually, so I'll try one of those...

Good luck!
It was this week of pregnancy last time (33 wks) that I got my first pregnancy YI (which was actually kind of a relief because I battle them when I am not pregnant, so I worried that they would be terrible during pregnancy). Anyway, that first one set off a chain of events including a UTI, preterm labor, bedrest, and pretty much continual YI's on and off then until delivery. Thankfully, after DS came out, it was over that day and I haven't had a single one since then!!!
Hang in there!

1) Cut all sugar and refined carbs out of your diet since yeast feeds on sugar.
2) You can insert probiotic capsules in your vagina or soak a tampon in yogurt and leave it in overnight. (the later has cleared up every yeast infection I've ever had in 2 days or so) I rub yogurt all over my vulva and it really helps the itchy feeling immediately.
3) Tea Tree oil is great for fungal infections but you only want to use a couple drops mixed with plenty of water for a soak/sitz bath or a lavage (I wouldn't ever do a full on douche, just squirt a little up there)

Air your crotch out as much as possible- go panty and pants less as much as possible! Hope you feel better soon!

Well, at the risk of going TMI, I haven't got to the point of "curd cheese" discharge yet, so hopefully the yoghurt baths did something. (I've been sticking a mooncup full in, going head-down for a minute or two, then going to bed) with several doses of probiotics a day. It HURTS, though.
