baby admitted to hospital :(

Morgan has had rapid breathing for a number of days. one check-up led to another and she was admitted to the hospital for testing & observation

she was discharged still breathing fast (avg. 70-80 breaths/min). they couldn't find a conclusive reason, possibly symptom of a virus (i got a chest cold after birth).

they let her go is that she's otherwise healthy, they ruled out obvious causes and she isn't distressed by the fast breathing. i'm distressed by it though! hopefully it just goes away.........

anyone else have any experience w/ this? tia.

My 2nd dd did this. She was breathing very rapidly, having retractions when she breathed (her chest caved in when she breathed in), her nails had purple at the bottoms, etc...They never figured out why it was happening-she never had other symptoms of illnesses, etc... My pediatrician was so worried he called us at home every evening until she started breathing normally. It just stopped one day and she was fine. My ped. did have me hold her all the time. He told me to sleep with her on my chest, etc...and never to put her down, so we didn't. It was so hard, but I was soooo worried I couldn't have put her down anyhow. Hang in there, I know how hard it is.

Olivia does some rapid breathing, but I'm pretty sure she's suffering from silent reflux, and the breathing seems to go along with other signs of stomach distress ...
