Kava Kava vs. Rescue Remedy

I have fairly persistent anxiety and panic attacks, and have used Rescue Remedy in the past. I'm wondering if anyone has used Kava Kava, and if that would help more, or if it has any negative side effects?

I am interested in knowing about the kava kava as well. I have tried the Rescue Remedy and it doesn't even begin to touch my anxiety. I do take valerian root at night and it helps when I'm feeling anxious. Good luck to you!!

Kava Kava is associated with liver damage which can occasionally be severe. Check Consumer Reports or Consumer's Union's website for details. I don't know anything about rescue remedy. Kava never helped me, nor did Valerian, SJW did a tiny bit, but the Rx SRIs & NRIs (norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) have been my only real solution.

good luck!

how about GABA? A natural amino acid that treats anxiety. You can also get it in a combination form with B6 and a couple other vitamins called GABA calm or GABA relaxers. Excellent choice.

If that doesn't work, you might try the diet supplement Relacore, main ingredient is magnolia bark, a powerful anti-anxiety herb, well studied.

THanks for all the info - I have a bottle of Kava Kava now that I am to scared to take for fear of liver damage! So much for it helping with the anxiety! I'm interested in looking more into it though, because I've also heard good things about it. I'll update later, when I decide if I'm going to take it and try.
