On celebrity-babies.com, Jenna Elfman says...

They say six months before you introduce solids, but he's really eyeballing my food. For now we'll stick to breast milk. We bring it in the bottle, because we're out and about so much. He can hold his own bottle now! I keep my Storksak diaper bag stocked at all times, ready to go.
Bolding mine. It just made me sad.

Yeah, but at least he's getting breat milk. That is still better than so many!

In all fairness, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be NIPing with paparazzi around. It's great that they're using EBM insted of formula!

You ladies are right, getting breastmilk is the most important no matter how the baby gets it. I just get really sad thinking that maybe this mama is too self-conscious to NIP. But yeah, I could see not wanting to nurse with paps around.

I always wondered if thats why more celebrities don't breastfeed as much. They are constantly on camera and being scrutinized. If they are working long hours on a set etc. They probably have to do a mix of bf and bottle feeding.
I can't imagine NIP and having a handful of photographers a few feet from me taking endless pictures and calling my name that would be truly awful.
I would be on of those angry famous people who throws things, or has to go to court over someones broken camera

At least he's getting breastmilk, though! It is sad that she won't NIP, though.

If I were a celebrity I think I would constantly NIP.

You know....it's one thing to be a momma nursing at a restaurant while people glare at you. It's quite another to be a momma nursing on the street and having eleventy-thousand flashbulbs go off in your face, trying to get a "nipple shot" so that they can plaster it all over the television and internet.

I suppose she could use a nursing cover, but perhaps her baby hates it.

I agree with this. I've always wondered what I would do in that situation. It would be tough.

I am actually quite surprised she's even BF'ing at all! It seems most celebs are obvious formula-feeders, as recently seen with Britney babies #1 and #2 and Sofia Coppola (yikes! and I even liked Lost in Translation).

It could also be that the baby doesn't respond well to the paparazzi. There *are* some babies who just WON'T nurse if there's a lot of hubbub going on around them.

I understand why the comment would make you sad. There are some people who would read that and it would reinforce their idea that NIP is wrong, shameful, something to be avoided, and so on. I may be comfortable NIP but I can't imagine how I'd feel if there were papparazzi hiding in the bushes just trying to catch a shot of my nipple (or worse, my post baby belly! )

It was just the "he can hold his own bottle now" that made me feel sad, I don't see that as something good iyswim.

Nowadays, they don't even hide. They out-and-out harass the celebrities. It's sad that there are people that make a living from legalized stalking.

It's breastmilk.
That's good enough for me.

it's a shame the paparazzi would want to shoot this anyway, but the baby is getting BM. I know it's really hard to pump and feed as opposed to nursing, so I really feel for the moms that have to go through this, for whatever reason.

Not just the photogs, but then the pics are posted all over on internet blogs with people commenting about the size of boobs and how much stomach she is showing, etc. So she might just want to avoid all the scrutiny.

Maybe her child doesn't nurse well in public. I was never able to nurse anywhere but my car or home because my son was too busy looking around and I would end up squirting milk everywhere. I can't even imagine trying to NIP with photographers around every corner.

yeah I'm right there with you. I was an EP'er so my baby always got her breastmilk in a bottle. I love seeing celebrities NIP but I understand the hesitation. I can imagine feeling like that image could be exploited as a tabloid novelty instead of the nice, normal mama feeding baby image it SHOULD be. then again, the only way NIP is ever going to be viewed as normal is when it becomes common. But it's her boob, and her kid, so she gets to do what she wants.

The comment makes me happy that she's bf'ing. I know that once DD was old enough to hold her own bottle, I kept holding it, but I was still proud of her for being able to do it, and it was good at certain times like in the carseat on a long trip. At 30 months I *still* hold her two bottles a day but sometimes she rips it out of my hand b/c she's just so darn independent now

Yay! I love Jenna Elfman.
