I have nearly no idea what this baby will be named. This is mostly because it is complicated by the fact that baby is bi-racial, father is Indian-Punjabi, and I am a wonderful mix like many Americans. It's hard when you don't even know the choices of names and when I look online at hindu baby names I am not sure how many are pronounced. DP does have a fave boy name he has settled on for a first name, and we haven't really considered that this baby could be a girl and need an appropriate name. Poor DP doesn't have the patience to look through the long lists of possible baby names, so while he is in India visiting family this month he is tasked with asking his parents for input on a name.
Even so, I am not stressing on it, it wouldn't surprise me if baby is not named for a week or 2 after birth. There is a hindu tradition of having a jyotishi (astrologer) using baby's birth info to come up with a special sound that should be part of baby's name, like 'ne' or 'pa' or whatever and then you find a name that includes the sound. We have discussed doing this because if we don't have a suitable name at birth at least doing this would narrow down the list.
Good luck to everyone though.
