I want to learn to make my own CDs...where do I start?

I want to learn to make my own cloth diapers. We just found out that we are expecting our third child and my 2nd one will only be 15 months when this new baby gets here, so they will both be in diapers for a while. So in an effort to save some money, I would really like to learn to make my own cloth diapers so that I can have a big enough stash by the time the baby gets here to cloth diaper both babies full time.

My favorite cloth diapers are Fuzzi-bunz, so I would really like to make that style diaper. I know you can get the patterns online. I've read a little bit on how to make them. I have a sewing machine that my mother gave to me.

I just need those of you who are experienced to point me in the right direction. For the Fuzzi bunz style CDs....where can I buy the material online? I know I need the PUL for the outer layer, microfleece for the inner layer and terry cloth for the insert. So do you know of a good place online that I can buy these materials?

What else will I need to make them besides the pattern, sewing machine and materials (fabric, elastic, velcro....???)

I would really appreciate the help, ladies! Thank you so much!

My favorite site is Very Baby. They have great patterns and fabrics, and the site is very user friendly.

Another site that really helped me was one on frugal diaper making. She puts things in perspective as far as cheaply making a diaper stash, and now at home the kids wear the dipes from her pattern, and they work great.

I was lost when I started, and just madly started Googling "making cloth diapers" and "diaper fabric". Helped a lot!

If you've never made a diaper before, diaperkits.com is great. You can buy the combo you want, it comes pre-cut with everything you need, and sewing instructions. If you get stuck, you can even email her for help. Once you've made one or two from a kit, then it's easier to make some from scratch.

I have used cloth dipes for awhile but had never made any, so I started with diaperkit.com's AIO's, and I love, love, love them. It is so nice not to have to cut anything out. And when I priced out buying all the material myself, I think it actually works out cheaper to buy from them. I plan on ordering more because they sew up so fast once you get the hang of it, and with no cutting time; it's a breeze.
