Sorry, another baby wearing question...

I need some input please! I am glad I waited until now to choose a sling. I am nowhere near the size I thought I would be PP. I fully intended to be at least 40 pounds heavier. It's a good thing I waited!

I will be wearing DD when I work. I clean a large church and will also be cleaning homes, so it must be very sturdy. I already have a train wreck for a back so it also needs to distribute baby's weight evenly. DD is only a month old and she prefers to be belly to belly/shoulder all the time, so it will also have to support her head and neck well too.

I was leaning toward the moby wrap but I have seen more than one mama say it is too warm and that it needs to be adjusted all the time b/c baby tends to slide downward in it. Cleaning is hot sweaty work as it is and I don't know how comfy it would be for us. Having to adjust it frequently might be more hassle than its worth. ??? It looks extremely comfy. DD likes to be upright too though, I don't know if it would offer the head support she needs right now???

What would you recommend for a newborn that likes to be upright and for wearing while doing this type of work??? TIA for the advice...I always get such great advice here!!

Also, I live in a rural area and the only store with any baby gear is Target and Walmart so I'm certain I will have to buy this online. I did get a crappy Baby Rider" from Wal mart just to get us started. Poor DD looks so uncomfy in it, but as long as she is on mama she won't complain.

i would definately recommend a wrap with a lot of cleaning like that. i've never used a moby, so i cant help you there. I have an EllaRoo wrap, that although is a knit, and seems pretty heavy, doesnt get hot at all. i would wear it all the time outside in the summer with no problem.

it might take some practice, but it is possible to do a back carry with a newborn. that would certainly make things easier.

I wear her upright in the Moby (hug hold, not newborn hug hold) and the head support seems fine. M can actually hold her head up TOTALLY WITHOUT ANY HELP which I think is kind of weird... I worked with babies and this kid's neck is stronger than the neck of many 6-week-olds I had in my class, and she's only 3 weeks and has had this going on for a week. Weirdo. So, the head support seems fine to me, anyway. I've been able to do laundry while wearing her and other house-cleaning type stuff.

If you're worried abt getting too warm, strip her down to just a onesie and diaper. I'd wear a tank top, and then wear her in the Moby, and then have a zipper sweater/sweatshirt to layer on top as needed and I think that might be fine.

A Moby is good to about 15 pounds and then alot of the problems can arise due to the weight of the baby and the streatchiness of the wrap. I would also recommend a Mei Tai. THey are great. Just get one that has a head support. Baby Hawks are highy recommended.

Something with a little more structure, like a Beco, might be right for you in that situation. Becos are gorgeous, too, and they last way longer than a wrap.

If the new one is too little for it at first, they make an infant insert, as does the Ergo, which is the utilitarian go-to structured carrier.

Good luck, happy birthing!

I'd definitely say a wrap or a MT. I really think the wrap would be more useful to you now, but I don;t know if buying both is do-able. Ooo - you could make a wrap with some gauze-y cotton: http://www.mamatoto.org/Default.aspx?tabid=121

I wouldn't get a moby because they are only really good for little babies, they don't hold big babies as well, because they are stretchy. I would get a woven wrap, like Didymos or Ellaroo, or a Mei Tai. I have a Babyhawk MT and I love it.

wraps are sturdy. maybe also Slingset or Baby K'Tan. even a ring sling for tummy to tummy w/ head tucked in.
