Hi,
Need to know what has worked for you and your clients to get rid of yeast infections, recurring and/or chronic. (This woman has even gone through two rounds of diflucan.)
It is her first yeast infection, started after using nuva ring..... have any of you found nuva ring sets up vagina for yeast infections?? And, has never resolved.

She wants to know all options- no matter how weird they sound.

My naturopath swears by boric acid suppositories. I don't have much personal experience with it, but I did quite a bit of online research about it which looked promising.

Accupuncture, specifically Neuromodulation Technique.

Gentian Violet.

0 added sugar diet.

Diflucan in frequent and decreasing dosages - i.e., 3 days of 1x/day, 3 weeks of 1x/week, 3 months of 1x/month.

Staying out of pools - for me the chlorine level in most pools is enough to upset a delicately balanced system if I am in it on a regular basis (occasionally is okay for me.)

I do this quite often for recurring yeast. Most women find it helps.

NuvaRing can definitely increase yeast infections in the susceptible woman.

Other suggestion is to make sure it is really yeast. Many women self treat for yeast, but really have BV. Diflucan won't do anything for BV.

To the above good advice I would add to advise her to do balancing acts, as in, managing stress and balancing life in other ways if it is out of whack. Definately no sugar, which means cut/minimize all sugars, white flour, white potatoes, fruit, alcohol, and dairy. Drink plenty of water and if it is yeast, add probiotics to the diet as supplements. Emphasize veggies, complex grains, and protein sources. Get out for a good walk every day (this is part of the balancing). I too have heard boric acid suppositories are good for yeast but have not tried them myself. Another round of diflucan might be more effective as part of an overall balancing program.

Curious about this too...

I am also curious about making sure my vaginal canal is clear of yeast in preparation for birth. I have been taking a probiotic religiously for the last few weeks and will continue until I deliver. I am about 37 weeks pregnant. I have a question though, my chiropractor suggested Oil of Oregano as an antifungal. I know OOO is contraindicated during pregnancy as it is a uterine stimulant, but wouldn't it be okay, this late in the game? Hopefully I didn't hijack. thanks.
