2008 is Great for Dingos! Running mamas January thread - Page 3

Well, shoot. That's even more pressure to sign up for that darn half in May. I'm suffering commitment issues with racing right now.

Hey, isn't the pregnancy list longer too. Anyone else ready to jump on that one?

ETA: eks, you RAWK too. Seriously. :

Just call me the chief stalker.

I came by the thread to try and stay on top of it and only got this far. Thanks for the .

Just wanted to let any potential stalkers know that I am still here and the baby was kind enough to stay put until 2008 (I really wanted Rachel and the baby to be two school years apart for paying for post secondary education purposes )

I was also really missing you guys .

It is very exciting to see all the pregnant dingos. Have to say I'll be happy not to be one and get back to running.

eksmom, how are you feeling?

Well since I only got as far as Geo's post I am going to go back and read the rest of the thread now.

Who owes who on letters? Karen keeps asking when she gets to meet Holly.

Did my first workout for the year. DH taught me how to use his exercise ball. Hopefully I can get my abs stronger without hurting the nerve in my back this way.

Not caught up on the rest of the thread, but do you know what MSCL ia available on abc.com? At least the first few episodes.

Ok, will post later when I can type more coherently.

I am pretty sure we owe a letter since I save the envelope to remind me if Holly doesn't and I just found it in a pile of stuff on my desk. Maybe this summer will be the one we can make it to the Dingo meet up

Good system. K wants H to know that she learned to play soccer when we were in California last month.

Moonshine -- I did not know that about the online MSCL episodes... I already ordered the series on Amazon, though! It was only $37 or something, so I felt like adding it to my crazy textbook order. Might as well have SOMETHING in that box I feel like looking at. JayGee -- I don't know what's different between this and the boxed set. Less DVDs? I dunno. I'll just be happy to have them. MSCL came out my Sophomore year in High School, so I WAS Angela Chase. Well, without the Jordan part. My sister got that one. But I knew how she felt, man... soooo much. Genius show! I'll be proud to have it alongside "Freaks and Geeks" in my collection.

Well, time to knit. I am making these with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. They're going to be a bit loose on me, but still cute.

Finally subbing on the bottom of page 3!

I've had a nutty crazy long weekend since Sat being on call for my group all that time, but I did get my first run of the year in tonight. I didn't get home until 9 pm due to too many sick people having to pick tonight to come to my ER and need to be admitted. I didn't eat supper, either, but I decided I needed to run more than I needed to eat. Ran 6 miles on the treadmill while watching Step Up (which is a great movie to run to!) It felt great, but I forgot that I need bodyglide if I'm going to run more than 4-5 miles!

New goal for 2008 is I think the same as the old one - 60 miles a month, for 720 miles total. Maybe I can actually make it this year! Only 714 miles to go, now. I'm planning to run a half in May with Balancin1 - probably the Palos Bank Half in Palos Heights (a Chicago suburb) which is a new race this year. Not sure what else I'll try to get in yet.

Geo - did E. like Justin's bubbles?

eksmom - thanks so much for keeping the lists! It's fun to stalk - and to know when our mamas are racing!

Happy New Year Dingos!!!

I'm finally resurfacing from a week of minimal computer time at the ILs....

One of the highlights was meeting up w/ Geo and her adorable DD and DS!!! (Megs, I had tried to call dibs on her E, but Nora is a little too forward/pushy for him, so it may not come to pass..... )

Happy belated bday Megs!!!

Hi new Dingos!

My grand total for 2007 was 140 runs, 645 miles

I'm not setting a mileage goal for 2008, after the marathon I just want to embrace the journey and see where the running goes..
serial posting...

Eks, will you add my marathon (Phoenix RnR) - Jan 13 :

Monica - sounds like you are set w/ the Hal Higdon plan for SLC, but I just wanted to toss out there that I have really loved using the FIRST/Furman program... It calls for 3 days of intense workouts (intervals, tempo run, and long run) and 2-3 days of intense cross training (not x training ) but you can do recovery runs or less-intense running on those days instead. It is a very low-mileage approach compared to some plans out there (like Pfitzinger) but it worked for my schedule this year... we'll see in two weeks how it worked out... :

Eks could you add the frostbite 5 for me on Feb3?

Race list updated to here.

I'm at work for the first time since November 14. It feels WEIRD.

He looked at them and said "bubbles? balloons?" and shrugged his shoulders. I got him unpoppable bubbles from Christmas, which he loves.

Hey, no crying, so I think things are improving! E's smile is so infectious it makes girls go wild, we know that. He just wants the girls to give him a little space and time to warm up to the idea.

eksmom, I was trying to figure out why you were zapping a rat's a$$, until I figured out it was placenta vibes. I feel like an old codger to say "all these smilies these days. Back in the old days we had and that was it!"

I saw the placenta smiley yesterday when I was looking around for info on the whale smiley. I then decided that with 5+ straight weeks of no bleeding, it was time to adjust my signature to reflect more positive thinking. However, I like the idea of having a little icon sending placenta vibes for me 24/7 on the internet.

But if I can think that the first trimester smiley looks like Homer Simpson, then you are certainly free to think the placenta smiley looks like a rat's hiney.

Still no running-it's freaking COLD here. Going down to 14 tonight and for this Georgia girl, that means stay inside. :
I did yoga this morning. Does anyone do Inhale that comes on Oxygen? I was not prepared for the intensity of it. I'm going to be sore tomorrow, but I liked it.
I need to find a 10k in the next couple of months so I can submit the time with my Peachtree application. I want a good number!

I'm sending success vibes : your way for your many projects. Will you be posting before and afters on your blog (I typed that thinking house but I'm sure I'm not the only nosy poker that would be happy to see all, in fact, if anyone else is willing to post before and afters I will too. Mine should be ready in 12 weeks!)

Have you seen the swim cap with built in mp3 player? I think I probably saw it in SkyMall or Hammacher Schlemmer (however you spell that catalog with the insane James Bond stuff). It was out of my range but I do long for it every time I'm doing laps and listening to the sound of my own breath.

Picturing you hamstering right now!

RM - Add me to your 'if you want to talk just PM me" list. And I'm Skypable too! Just don't forget how much support is here for the taking okay?

So I am already one sore puppy after my first two workouts! It feels so good in that OMG-I-can't-roll-over-in-bed-without-groaning kind of way. Yesterday was the first time I'd tried the 20 minute interval workout. It was hard! I sweated for a full hour afterwards, even after my shower! That has to mean good things are happening below the surface right? So today I lift for legs and abs. Then I really will be feeling it I'm sure but I just feel such a happy high to be back in action so to speak. Aren't we lucky to be able to do this for ourselves?

Eks - In a few more months I plan to have something to add to that list! Thanks for keeping it all together! I hope your day at work is a good one!
Hmm, I've got to go check that rat's hiney smiley!

Oh, I have one last goal for 2008. Inspired by DrJen and Megs and Taosmom, I'm going to start taking some courses towards an eventual EMT certification. I'm pretty sure that I can do a lot of it on Island but I will need to get there and start talking to those who know to figure out the whole plan. But that's my plan.

Okay, GYM TIME!

HBM!

Balancin 1 and Dr. Jen,

I used to live in Palos!

EKS mom I don't know how to send a link, if anyone knows how I can send one for my runs.

at the rat's hiney.

rr~30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym. I probably could have gone longer but ds's diaper issues caused me to have to "report to childcare" and once he saw me he was done. Off to shower.

Goodness, I had the wierdest virus last night. I had a fever, complete with uncontrollable shivering and chills, muscle aches, and a headache. I swore it was the flu, but this morning I'm fine (just a little weak). Very strange... Still, I think I'll take today off from any forward motion.

I am still researching my race options, so nothing to add for me at the moment.

That placenta smilie is hysterical !
Posting from work, so I have to keep this short. But HOORAY for me, I went to the gym before work this morning! 20 mins of cardio and some weightlifting, and a few of those captain's chair things for abs. OOF! That really made the extra weight I'm carrying evident.

Modmom, cool about you living in Palos! DrJen used to live where I do now.

Eks, I totally give a placenta about your placenta. (I sure hope that makes sense/is somewhat funny to anyone else besides just me...)

Back later today for a real post!
