Favorite words. . . - Page 3

I already posted, but I thought of a couple more.

My 3yo says "yogrit" instead of yogurt. And he sings "Deck the Halls" as "Jack the halls with bells of bolly..."

I love my 3 yo dd:
That is SO Tool mommy ( Tool=cool)
I finked it mommy (finked=thinked)
I call my girls Cha-chi-mar-a-chi and chi-chi-mar-e-chi
both try to call each other their "names" and it comes out
t-t-me-t =)

my absolute favorite that my 4.5 yo DD says is ridicleeus (ridiculous). DH has started saying it now ! she has such impeccable speech, she's never had too many cute versions of words, and DH and I really savor this one.

DS often substitutes the 'f' sound for other sounds. my favorite is when he goes with me to work and when it's time for us to leave, sometimes i forget to clock myself out, so he reminds me to "flock out mama" a couple of the gals who work at the front desk will remind me to "flock out" even when DS isn't with me!

Ds is 3.5, and he's always called napkins, "nakyums". So, we all say it that way now!

DD has a few that she mixes up but the one that cracks me up is:

Baby Genius = Baby Jesus

We have a few that are escaping my mind right now, but if I think of them I'll be back.

The only one I can think of right now refers to the Transformer robot Nik received for Christmas. It is Optimus Prime, but Nik can't seem to get the name right; he keeps calling him Octopus Crime.

three year old dd, at about 18 months started saying 'hornicorn' for unicorn. around the same age she called ice cream 'updum', and now, among others, she says 'youtudder' for each other.

this thread is priceless.

Thinger for Finger

too funny

Ds used to call hands handles so even now when we are out, I ask him to hold my handle
He also calls daddy's crutches "crunches"
and he instead of testicles, he has wrinkles

DS used to say "dokey" for helicopter. It was some weird take-off from "Copter", but I don't recall how the transformation went. It's "Cop-o" or helicop-o now.

An acquaintance's kids called them hoppy-copters, because they hopped when doing some maneuvers.

When you ask him a question and he doesn't know the answer, he replies with one of the following:
"I want you tell me." or "I can't know!"

There are a bunch....DS has an enormous vocabulary, coupled with some creative speech.

i'll cry when he gets it right, i just know!

My favorite one right now is "buh-puter" for computer.

And the one I probably shouldn't tell is that I caught DD calling her younger DS a "pin-yah-tis" like pinata but with an s. It took me all afternoon to realize that she was trying to say, "pain in the a--" and once I figured it out I was mortified.

also:
yogrit for yogurt
banilla for vanilla
chock-wit for chocolate
car-car for car
star-star for star
wunch for lunch
Wachel for Rachel (her sister's name)
Way-way (for Ray-ray, a nickname for her sister)
ga-wi-wuh for gorilla

(I think we have a W/L confusion!)

4.5 yo DS has a hard time with his /v/ sound, so we ride in a "ban" and take "bitamins" at breakfast time.
Although yesterday I caught him singing: I pop the cherry! But we're big reggae fans, he was really singing Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff"

DD is 17 months, so we have lots of fun with her.
wawa--water
aju-apple juice
oju--orange juice
pooter--computer
nyiiiice--nice
seepy--blankie
bimba--any cat, named after our Simba
shoota--uncle's dog Shooter
hep, hep--help, her latest whenever we're doing something she doesn't like, like some diaper changes

Kids are so fun!

My kids had tons of cute words, and I always thought I'd remember them forever and didn't write them down. Of course I only remember a few.

My dd called her Auntie 'Eetee' which lasted forever because it became a habit

Testicles are pesticles

Yogurt was yonit

Squirrels were bakels -we have no idea why, and could not figure out what he meant by bakels for the longest time.

He called the dark 'darken' because I would say, "Oh, it's dark in here." We would ask, "Is it darken out yet?"

Versus is versing - those boys are playing versing each other

Upside down came out as 'adda bum' forever, and we were so sad when it got corrected.

I'm sad I can't remember more. Great thread!

I just about peed myself when I read this one....too funny!

My DD is five now, and I don't really remember too many unusual pronunciations from her. The only one I can think of now is how she called her Aunt Susan - Aunt Soonie. We still call her this even though she can correctly pronounce Susan's name. Too cute. I like pet names.

She does have a small problem with using fff to finish words that end in th. Wiff instead of with. I do correct her. She is unusually articulate and has been taken for much older due to her speech.

I'm gonna check with DH when he gets home to see if he can remember any other cute phrasology.

Early on umbrella was "brela-a" but then he "figured it out" and now calls it a "brelella". At 4.5 it's one of his last "baby-isms", and I'll be so sad to see it go.
