Dh and I have been getting here in our own ways, but are really going to try to simplify intentionally this year. We already found so much greater peace from our journey so far. Thanks for all the great links!

I'm loving that too. One big goal that we made happen in 2007 along with living simpler was to also have DH working locally and cut back on the commute he was doing - it's been the best thing. We are earning a little less and putting us in a tighter position than before, but the extra time that dh is home with us has made it worthwhile and he is also enjoying the job he now has more too along with the less stress.

We're in summer right now, and this summer is going to be about camping holidays (we have 2 planned in the next month with friends) and a big road trip to visit my IL's but in a relaxed fashion and making the whole trip part of the trip rather than just getting to the end destination the best bit iykwim? In the past I've dreaded the whole trip up and back (2 days driving each way), but this year it's going to be seen as part of the adventure.

I just started this. I am freecycling a whole list of things and it's pretty cool at how quick they're getting picked up. I love that others can use what I don't want.

My biggest challenges are the office / paperwork / craft items and living room / mail / craft items. Organizing isn't easy, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

I'm definitely in. This is my major goal for 2008. I want to greatly reduce the amount of 'stuff' in our home. The more I get rid of, the better I feel!

I am in. Hubby and I have been constantly working on simplifing our lives.

Last summer we started a garden, and worked on sticking mostly to farmer markets and eating locally grown foods.

We have been slowly, but constantly decluttering our lives 9but still have a long way to go).

i am learning better cooking skills - goal to eat out less and enjoy eating at home more.

re: scraps of fabric- I've been recycling the old shirts and clothes that still have lots of nice fabric that I like to make patch work aprons and skirts.

Hi mamas,

I'm joining too. I have been simplifying for over 2 years. When I learned about FreeCycle, I was able to get rid of some very usable things that were keeping me from enjoying my house and family for all the baby things, old clothing and other things I didn't use anymore.

Now, I want to spend time thinking about what comes IN to the house, as in purchases, gifts and more, to be careful that we don't ever have the problem we had 2 1/2 years ago.

I'm interested in simplifying in all areas of my life.

This is where we want to be at. We grow most of our food, live out in the country, compost etc. I really want to be more simple. My goal in life is to have a tiny tiny house, with a composting toilet and live in the middle of the forest....someday maybe! :-)

Do you vermicompost?
If so, do you think you can answer this question for me? Or anyone for that matter.


We just moved into a tiny apartment. Im going to be starting up a new vermicompost (old one use to stay in basement of our previous home) but am finding there is hardly any room for it. Do you think it would be safe for the worms if I stored it underneath the kitchen sink? Will it get enough air?
