Anyone know where I can find a fireman hat to fit a 14" DRD friendship doll? I'm making a fireman friend for my nephew and need a hat... accessories too if you know where to find them. TIA

I checked all my sources and didn't find anything close to a fireperson's hat. Maybe you could try and make one from red PUL or paper mache`

That is looking like it is my only option. I thought about trying to go to one of those Build-A-Bear Stores... seems like they have outfits for every profession... including hooker.

I recently saw a very basic pattern for a paper fireman's hat that you could easily make out of felt. It was a kids' craft project in "Chirp" magazine, which ds was looking at in the library. Basically, you cut an oval of red paper (felt), a bit bigger then your head. Then you make a C-shaped cut inside the oval, leaving the straight edge attached at one end of the oval. The resulting piece sticks up to be the front of the hat, with the brim now encircling your head. That is the extent of the pattern - there is no real cap, just the brim and front piece. But I can imagine cutting two pieces of felt in long triangles to become the rest of the cap, and sewing them in to the brim and front. Does this make any sense at all??

Yes, the Build-a-Bear store, of course! I remember seeing a complete Fireperson get up in there over the holidays. I think the size should be just right for a 16-18" Waldorf doll. I have used a lot of accessories from there in the past.

As far a sewing one, I have had good results with the PUL in making helmuts in the past. I sewed a contruction style one and it worked perfectly fine. The instructions provided by MountainlovinMama sound like perfect sense to me.

Can you just go into BAB and buy the clothing? I thought you had to make an animal to get clothes.

Yes, you can just buy the outfits and accessories, if you want.

If you wanted something cloth, one of the pattern companies has a pattern to make a baby sized fire hat. It's really cute. In a separate pattern they have the matching boots.
