I've been purging a TON!! We had two of our three girls sharing a room, but decided to split them up so our TV room had to go. I'm so excited that two of the things we decluttered today are a big ol' 32" TV and a TV stand!! SIL's brother is moving to town and he didn't have either. (BTW, I'm counting it prematurely, because it's still in our garage until he moves into his apartment later this week, but it's out of the house and I'm thrilled!!)
We got 2 great big huge garbage bags of stuff out of the house today. I didn't count but there were AT LEAST 100 items in there so my new total is 120/2008.
I also have about 20 items in a pile beside me that were listed on Freecycle today, if they are still here on Wednesday they will get dropped off at charity.
We also put our little one's giant plastic train table in the car to return to the toy store tomorrow. It was a thoughtful but misguided holiday gift and we will be replacing it with something much smaller. It doesn't count towards my total since we will just be replacing it with something else but it will take up less space which is great.
Not my best day, but I did get some organizing done, and listed a few things here and on craigslist. So there is some forward progress being made... I just can't get things out of the house fast enough.
DH is concerned that sometime in October I'll be tossing everything that isn't nailed down. I asked him... Would that really be so bad? ~grin~
(3) diaper wraps thrown out -- they were unsalvageable

My dh is afraid of the same thing! He keeps saying one day he will come home and I will have gotten rid of the couch for folding chairs, so I can put them in a closet at night! I told him not to worry about it, if I got rid of the couch, I'd at least get bean bags from LuvSacks instead of folding chairs!
DP and I live in a tiny but SUPER cluttered apartment. We're planning on moving across the country this summer when he graduates, when I am about 7 months pregnant. We both agree that we want to simplify as much as possible so our move is easy. We both have a lot of things we don't need.
I haven't done anything yet but I was planning on digging in today. I'll update later.
Kinda sad...DH and I went to a friends house yesterday and when we came back we saw our neighbor going through three boxes we'd set next to the dumpster...in the time it took us to get the kiddos out of the car she had taken several items. I didn't throw away anything 'sensitive' so I'm not worried, but it makes me sad to see people dumpster diving
3 old pieces of candy
1 candy tin
1 partial box or Weightwatcher Smoothie mix (yech)
4 books to the community bookshelf at my office
1 magnet thing on the fridge
9 pieces of DS's "artwork"
1 envelope
3 Misc pieces of paper
2 coupons
--------------
26 total/2008 All this was just from my hot spot in the kitchen.
It's a small start. I'm going to try and get DH to do some stuff next.
62 broken, never played with, crappy, useless, etc toys THROWN OUT
and
3 more added to the goodwill pile. Going through toy box #3 (yes he has THREE toy totes) tonight after James goes to sleep. I had to shut the door and listen to him scream to go through Toy Boxes 1 & 2
I cleaned out the junk drawer today and threw away a bunch of stuff-- we can find things there now! And I threw out a paint liner thing that still had paint in it, but had been sitting for so long that the paint was dry.
DH is actually cleaning up. I'm not counting his stuff on my count, though.
Let's see:
1 Yule tree and decorations put away (counting as 3 items as that's what it takes up stored)
2 ornaments into goodwill because they turned up after stuff was put away
2 tree bits and broken ornaments tossed
2 inflatable frogs into goodwill
2 boxes from stuff arriving for holidays into recycle bin
I did some compacting last night and managed to get rid of 90 DVD cases. I'm going to count it as 88 though as I brought in 2 albums to store the DVD's into though. I believe it's going to take another 3 albums to finish it up. Then onto the CD's.
