10 pieces of clothing tossed

346/2008

I'm feeling good. I've got to get moving on video/audion media. We've got tons that takes up too much space. I have to pry all of it from DH. I also want to ditch the bookcase that all of it is in. I am so having a yard sale this Spring.

Copying directly from my blog for this last week:

This was a mediocre week on the decluttering front. I went through part of my bathroom cupboard and drawers, but there is still more there that can go I'm sure.

I did manage to give someone 3 large boxes of packing peanuts so they wouldn't go in the landfill just yet. The only reason I had them sitting in the garage was because I tried to donate them via Craigslist a couple months ago. A woman replied and I responded, then waited to hear back from her. In the meantime, a man emailed me and said quite curtly, that he wanted them and when could he get them. I know tone is next to impossible to read in an email so I gave him the benefit of the doubt there. Not so after his next email, some 4 hours later. He demanded to know if they were still available and if not, then I needed to take down my listing and don't you know how this thing works? I responded back that yes, I know how Craigslist works, and no the peanuts weren't taken yet. I had someone in line before him and hell would freeze over before I would give them to him now (okay, so I didn't actually type that last part, but maybe I should have). So they sat in my garage since the first woman never replied back (I guess my packing peanuts weren't good enough for her). A friend of mine forwarded me someone's Freecycle post asking for some and voila! They're gone.

So on to my list for this past week already:

TRASHED:
plastic bag (I don't remember why I wrote this down, but it must not have been a reusable bag?)
random toy
shower gel
window markers (almost all dried up)
4 old bottles of nail polish
nail file
1/2 used bag of coffee Henry didn't like
random tea bags I didn't like
2 bath toys
2 bath poofs (1 moved here with us, so it was time to go)
spice container
2 mailing envelopes
light bulb (it looked dead, but was being stored for some reason)
2 containers of really old broccoli cheese soup I had frozen
2 things of makeup

RECYCLED:
catalog
bath toy
3 mailing supplies
3 product bozes
5 magazines
pad of paper
recipe box
stack of never used recipe cards
1 food storage container/lid

RETURNED/GIVEN AWAY:
3 large boxes packing peanuts
2 birthing/breastfeeding books to my pregnant friend
1 wool diaper cover

DONATED:
foot massager
1 article of Jonas' clothing
4 books
2 small stuffed animals
1 bag unopened coffee

large stack blank recipe cards

We are moving into a new and much smaller house on March 15th so I am on a deadline for decluttering. I need to get a whole year's worth of purging done in 2 months so I can pack and enjoy my new house.

My goal for March-December is to keep my new house clutter-free and come up with creative storage and organizing to maximize the space available to us.

Hi all! I know it's the last day of Jan, but I want to join in. My goal for this year is to start organizing my life. It has hit me recently that we have been in this house for 7 1/2 years now & we have accumulated 7 1/2 years worth of junk : I am unhappy & feel cluttered & chaotic all the time. I think this will be a big help in keeping me motivated. These threads move fast, so I hope I can keep up...

I cleaned out a 'junk' drawer yesterday & got rid of 22 items. Today I threw away my fav ceramic bowl It has a crack in it. So that puts me at 23/2008 Wow, it is almost overwhelming to think about. Hopefully this spring we will have some sucessful garage sales & I'll really be able to boost that number.

plugging away slowly...
Last night I cleaned out the aquarium top to bottom and scrubbed everything (I know that's often not good for the fish, but this had gotten ridiculous since ds was born b/c I've been too busy and dh doesn't like to clean it.) Tossed old airstone, filter, airstone feature that didn't work anymore, etc. I'm counting miscellaneous aquarium stuff as 1 item. With books I mailed out yesterday, a spy box thing I donated to preschool, and a couple of other things, I'm now at 91. I do have a big pile of stuff to either TP sell and a deadline for them. I have to do it by 2/16 or I'm going to do a big run to the thrift store with it all when I have a car that day anyway.
