strange story......please give me advice!

Okay, I had a diui on Monday and Tuesday, August 4 and 5. Was supposed to go in for my beta this Tuesday but I went in Monday instead, one day early (13 dpiui). Negative.

Well, af still hadn't come today (Thursday), so I took an hpt. Undeniably positive! I'm freaking out. I called my RE and told the whole story and they told me to come in tomorrow for another blood test. They didn't say, "Well, you're pregnant!" or "You're not!" They just said, "That's really bizarre." THey told me my hcg level on Monday was 2 (anything below 5 being negative).

Has anything like this ever happened to you? I'm SOOOOO guarded. But at the same time, last time I was pregnant my beta level started out really low, like late implantation or something. So it's possible??? But I feel like this is going to turn out to be some cruel joke on me.

Any thoughts?????

Just in case anyone is curious, the second blood test came back negative. Not pregnant. Those hpt's are cruel and unreliable little suckers. I did realize that I had waited too long to check the hpt, which obviously resulted in a false positive. So cruel.

Yes, if you wait too long, you can get what is known as an evaporation line. I try to avoid hpt as much as possible.

betas (also known as hCG beta) are generally above 20 at 13-14 dpo to sustain an pregnancy. From that point, the hCG beta values should double every 48-72 hours.

I am sorry you got that darn evaporation line. That just sucks....
