a pain in the neck?

literally... I have a strange pain on the right side of my neck, from behind my ear to my shoulder. It is alternately burning, dull, and sharp. I've had it since Christmas day. I'm pretty sure that ovulation/conception was on 12/20 (I just tested positive yesterday).

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced it? I guess it would make me feel better to know that... I've never had such a weird, localized pain before, but if I knew it was a pregnancy symptom I guess I wouldn't mind it so much!

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Are you having any spotting or anything? Please, please don't take this the wrong way, but shoulder pain can be a sign of an ectopic. It's probably not that, and I don't mean to frighten you, but I would call your m/w or doctor just to let them know what's going on. Keep us posted!!

I second what meredyth said - put a call into your care provider.

Hm. No spotting or other pain so far. The neck pain started a week ago, which seems like it would be a bit early (before implantation, even)... nevertheless I will call the doctor. Thank you - I will update if I find out anything...

Thanks again! I went to the doctor today, and she was convinced it was muscle pain, especially after she had me move my neck around. It seems like it's too early for it to be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. And what do you know, the pain has gotten a lot better since I heard that (and after I applied hot compresses)! Now back to trying not to obsess... we'll see how that goes. I really appreciate the concern and tips!

I had similar pain. My Chiropractor fixed it.
