Still here, hanging by a thread.... We went in for monitoring, bp, blood and urine tests. Baby's movements and heartrate are excellent, my urine and blood came back normal-no protein spillage, but my bp still remained a bit high and the swelling/edema in my lower legs remained as well, but I chalk that up to sitting for nearly 6 hours in chairs waiting for results. The doctor thought that I should stay in overnight for bp monitoring every hour with a 70% of them squeezing me in for an induction. I got the deer-in-the-headlights-look on my face, and Hubby and I discussed it, and we both knew from previous experience that there was no way that I'd sleep at all in the hospital and then go into a possible induction that we were setting me up for big time failure. We reasoned with the doc and her higher-upper person that it would be best that we just go home and get some sleep, and we would call back in the morning with the proviso that any blurry vision/headaches/chest pain that we'd return immediately.

We went home, ate, and went to bed and I had an emotional melt-down. Not for mourning the loss of my UC/homebirth, but of the SHEAR TERROR of having to go through that special kind of hell (for me, that is) called induction. My first-born was induced at 41+3, and that is what I am today. By the time I finally asked for the epidural, I wanted to claw my face and belly off, and was pleading for the L&D nurses to knock me out under general anesthesia and c-section me.

I got about 5 hours of sleep. It is amazing to me how nackered I get when I have been crying. I got up and took a bath to try to come to grips with the induction, and had a complete break-down again. Hubby called the hospital to see if they had space for me and they wanted me in pronto. I got out of the bath and curled up on the bed and sobbed. I could not come to grips with an induction. My intelligent mind told me that I *should* go in, but emotional mind wouldn't let me. I was too emotionally fragile, and I knew then and still know now, that if I had gone in that I'd end up resenting myself, my dear sweet Hubby, and even my innocent unborn. What would be a fix for one day would become years of what needed to be fixed. We called in, and they tried to persuade us into coming in today because they had room today (barely), but we asked if a community midwife could just be sent out for a bp and doppler tones later, and a reschedule of induction. We are asked to call in Friday morning to see if there is any room, otherwise Monday morning, or we go in if something drastic happens as a spike in BP, blurry vision, headaches, and/or chest pain.

So hopefully my water breaks before then, and labor starts before then--otherwise it is induction hell for me.

I'm not in the same situation as you, but similar. Both of my boys were induced after broken water and no labor. So far, the same thing is going on again. I have already decided that if I end up being induced in the hospital again, I'm getting an epidural as soon as I walk through the door. I don't think I can handle pitocin on my own. Pitocin is the DEVIL. I hope you go into labor soon. Are you thinking of trying castor oil/blue and black cohosh/homeopathic blue and black cohosh to try and speed things along? They are obviously still "inducing" you, but not nearly as heinous as pitocin, IMO.

aw Lizzardbits my first DD was an induction, it sucks. there is NO way i want to go through that again. thankfully i have an amazing midwife this time, tomorrow i'll be 42 weeks, and she says as long as DD#2 is doing well she won't make me do anything! my DH has been a little impatient and she says if he really wants to get things moving she can give me castor oil.

i really wish you didn't have this pressure to go into labor "or else"! it's so horrible. i hope you go into labor on your own! pitocin is yucky, i was on it for 12 hours with NO progress! all it did eventually as they upped it and upped it was cause one long contraction, which DD didn't like...argh. thats when i finally said Epidural please! I'm with starry_mama, if SOMEHOW i ended up w/an induction again I'd get an Epi right away. i hate pitocin.

{{hugs}} ladies - and tons of natural labor starting vibes beaming your way. Isabel was induced and I made it thru 12 hours of Pit contractions (I was at 34 units/hour at that point) before I begged for the epi - Pitocin *is* the Devil!!

Yup, pitocin is the devil. I did 22 hours of unanaesthetized pitocin labor with DS before the c/s, and it BLEW.

Lizzard, I am SO sorry. Good for you for staving things off til Friday!

Labor vibes for all of us! More later, toddler calling . . .

Starry, . I was truly hoping for a birth announcement, or at least for you to be MIA today.

40+5 and nothing, here.

Stellimamo? Are you out there?

I'm in a similar boat to Lizardbits. 41+4. Went to the hospital for the biophysical profile yesterday. Everything looked good, but they "were not impressed" (I hate hospital speak!) with my BP. They convinced me to take a blood test to rule out pre-e and HELLP, which I was quite sure would come back okay, so I said, sure. Of course it was fine. They kept repeating the refrain, "the only way to get that BP down is to get this baby out!" They also made a point of correcting themselves when they called her my little girl. "Of course, she's not little though, is she? She's a BIG girl!" Yup, just like I was, just like my mom was.
I would have been devastated if they tried to get me to stay overnight!
Today we will go through our natural induction checklist yet again--dtd, breast pump, walking, acupressure points, herbs, and maybe finally bite the bullet and try the castor oil. I'm drinking RRL, nettles, and Black Cohosh tea right now, which I made a little heavy on the cohosh (nobody mentions how mega-nasty it is, do they?), trying not to gag. I hope these do the trick. WE're also going to try a little meditation/visualization of the birth, 'cause why not? Certainly can't hurt!
Sending good thoughts to all who are still pregnant (and the new mommies, too!)...

40+4 and still here.

I had an appointment today and my OB was actually really open to me going until this baby decides its time. Of course he scheduled a biophysical profile and told me as long as we are both healthy things wouldn't be a problem.

I'm getting a tiny bit bummed by all of the phone calls that I'm letting go to voicemail for sanity's sake. Also, next week my Mom goes back to school and won't be able to watch my kids, so that sucks. DH won't be able to take as much time at home with me since his vacation isn't all carrying over from last year, so that's a bummer.
But in the grand scheme of things I know my baby will be healthy, and that means the world to me.

Halleluja! My bp's yesterday were between 135/110 to 125/95--todays was 110/75!!! Swelling is still present, but has lessened. No protein in the urine--just a few leukocytes, most likely from bloody show. Fetal heart tones and movement are excellent. No other pre-e signs. Midwives seem happy, Hubby happier, but still concerned Awww Bless him! I am still feeling "off" but better.

Hubby said that later on tonight we will try for some more bedroom action, if not for baby eviction, then just to feel closer and have a bit of stress relief! Good Heavens! I love that man!! *mush, mush, mush, gush, gush, gush!*

Hey thanks!

Maybe one of us will go into labor tonight! Hmmm, which one will it be? The mama with a re-sealed sac? The mamas with BP issues? Any of the mamas who are 41+, headed to 42? Everyone seems so deserving at this point.

Oh maybe it will be that we can't pick just one and all of you will!

Labor vibes ladies! Babies.... come on out now! It's time!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say that I'm still reading when I can and thinking of you! No matter what, these babies WILL come and it will be the right time for them. I know the waiting is a nightmare, especially when you're not feeling well physically OR emotionally, but it won't be much longer now

Hugs all around!
