So how is everyone doing??

Something i was thinking of today-- whenever I do my CDs, I am propped up on pillows...sitting up in the bed with my back against the wall (pillows for comfort)

Yet now I read that this position may encourage the baby to be in the wrong position (not facing my back) or something.

humph...

Not sure what to do because I think my body is already programmed to relax and go into hypnosis as soon as I take this position...and a lot of my birth visualization involves this position (as well as birth ball laboring)

hmmm....

Ooo... I'll have to keep an eye out for the birth partner stuff. I found the birth partner CD (which I think I bought separately) but no actual reading material.

Perhaps try different positions? When your birthing waves start, you may want to walk around (eat, use the restroom, etc) so try to vary where you listen to your scripts so that you are comfortable (and can enter hypnosis/create anesthesia) anywhere. I'm trying to do this myself because even though I never got through the CDs with my first birth, I felt like if I wasn't in the same position/place as I was when I listened to the CDs, it wasn't as effective. Of course I gave birth in a hospital so I really just wanted to be at home in my nice dark bedroom.

I've been working on new positions for my practicing. I hung up the "positions for laboring out of bed" hand out that my kit came with and now I try a few of those. I also have been putting away clothes, going to the bathroom and other little chores while doing open eyes hypnosis!

I just started week 5!

Damn girl, you go with your bad self!

I still haven't made it to week 5 yet -- ugh! I also don't know how to stop falling asleep! Yesterday I fell asleep while sitting up (not supported so I would stay awake ) I just don't know what to do with myself... I don't think I've ever actually heard the Creating Anesthesia track in its entirety (on a conscious level)... sleep just calls to me.

But what you're doing is awesome... if I could fight the sandman, I'd love to try laboring positions, etc with my eyes-open hypnosis!

Been thinking of joining you ladies for some time now but have been having a hard time deciding btwn h-babies and h-birthing...and didn't really get any answers to the difference. So I will be making my decision byt tomorrow and ordering it b/c I have to get a move on.

This is my 2nd baby. I planned for my son's birth to be very different thatn it was...it wasn't bad, it just wasn't how I planned...who knew labor could be so long? So I need strategies to help me relax as I normally quite high-strung and tense...a constant worrier. Not having the ability to relax and rest is what stalled my labor and I really want to avoid that this time and have the birth that I hope to.

So are there any women here who are not easily relaxed but are finding the program to actually help in that area?

Are the CDs focused on relaxation and hypnosis or are they educational on the birth process? Is it both? I have the been there done that experience of birth and btwn the two PG I've read everything I could get my hands on regarding birth...so I'm looking for less info on what my cervix is doing and more info on learning to relax so it can do what it needs to...does that make sense?

I hope you don't mind me barging in here with all these questions, but I'm feeling pressed for time and know I need to get going already.

Thanks for your attention...best wishes for a healthy and quick birthing experience!

Okay I just ordered my copy of the program...so what else do I need? I see some of you have mentioned headphones...do I need to go buy a portable CD player/walkman type of thing? I have a birthing ball from last time...anything else?

Hope you don't mind if I join even if I am weeks behind you all.

Glad you are joining us!!!

The CDs are relaxation and hypnosis and the book with all the lessens in it has the stuff about the birthing process. SO definitely what you are looking for!

I think it's easier with headphone (I have an MP3 player- IPod- that I am using). This way I can move around and not everyone in the room has to listen to what I am. It also helps me block out noises around me.

In addition, you are suppose to listen to your pregnancy affirmations everyday, so I usually do this while working out, so the portability comes in handy there!

I think a diskman or something like that would work just as well and you can get those for pretty low prices these days.

The birth ball is really helping me! so def good you have one of those

Other than that I would say focus and making time. Sometimes the amount to practice everyday kinda worries me, but I just press on and I realize it's really helping me. I don't think i would have gotten any sleep last night with the horrible heartburn i was having with these relaxation techniques.

Welcome to the group! And as you can see from my post a few back, I have a problem with relaxing TOO much -- I can't stop falling asleep!!!

I actually pulled the tracks off the cd's and put them on my husband's iPod. I found that discman to be too big and cumbersome. Not to mention it makes dealing with all those "CDs" easier since it's all in one place.

Thanks for the warm wlecome ladies...my shipment is in transport so I should have it this week. I'm super excited.

So I have an off-topic question sort-of...you mentioned using an i-pod...we are so behind technology-wise and don't have one...but I'm going to get one by the weekend b/c I realized I donated our cd walkman last year b/c we never used it. Anyway, the i-pod shuffle is relatively cheap at only $80...is 1 GB enough to hold the CDs? Or do I have to get a more expensive one with higher GBs? It says it holds 240 songs...so it sounds like enough but I haven't a clue about GB...

So I finally got through the "Hypnotic Childbirth #2" CD without falling asleep It's a pretty amazing CD, lots of birthing suggestions (like putting anesthesia before your baby's head as they exit) that kinda got me excited for April!

HOw is everyone else doing?

New to the group...

Hello fellow April due-dates I just bought the Hypnobabies set online today and am looking forward to starting the learning process. I feel like I'm getting on board a bit late, but hope it still will be effective for me!

I'm due with my first baby at the end of April, and we're planning a homebirth. Looking forward to hearing about others experiences with Hypnobabies as well.

Welcome, sara!

A big part of hypnobabies is only letting positive stories and views on birth into your mind. So, with that in mind, they have put a bunch of positive hypnobaby births on their site! I would def check that out; also, you can join the hypnobaby yahoo group for even more stories (I think the link can be found on the main site)

My update:

practice is going well, and I do my first fear release session tomorrow. Then its just on to the maintenance schedule until our birthing!

I think my big thing is needing to practice more longer eyes open hypnosis sessions.

I did the fear release and couldn't think of anything I was "fearing". I thought maybe a list of options would be helpful but then wouldn't that defeat the purpose of being positive
ITA about needing more practice with eyes open but I just love having my eyes closed! Not very practical when we'll be needing to drink between waves...

Ya know I was thinking about that too b/c the lessen says to write them down and really until I read that line I hadn't thought about fears and now they are kinda creeping on the outside of my mind I'm going to do the session tomorrow and after that I might not do another one...

I'm also getting REALLY bored with the deepening session...

The section on the maintenance schedule in the workbook says you can start doing the deeping session with eyes open hypnosis (ignoring the instructions to do eyes closed) and to move around in different birth positions throughout the session.

If you are at that point, it could be a good mix up. I'm going to try it later this week.

My friend just brought her hypnobabies stuff over for me to borrow until I give birth! I read some of lesson one so far.

I have been listening to the affirmations every night before bed and fall asleep before the end every time. ooops. (dh was away this weekend)

I don't know if he will like listening to them at night. I will have to see. I haven't even had the chance to discuss this course with him yet. I plan on doing that tonight. Hopefully he is in agreement.
