Diaper cover patterns?

I am looking for a pattern for a cover, something similar to Bummis super whisper wraps ( my favorite!). I'm using fleece, which I'm hoping is an easy fabric to work with because I'm new to sewing. I also have some fabric which I believe to be a cotton/poly blend, my stepmom gave it to me to practice with. Is that kind of fabric good for anything diapering related?

How about the Very Baby Snug Wrap pattern? There is a tutorial that shows you how to do the Bummis style velco closing on it. http://diaperfabric.com/sew-no-curl-wings/

The pattern is very easy to follow. Fleece is fairly easy to work with. All you'd need is some fold-over elastic to bind the edges and some velcro or aplix. I'm sure the Very Baby company sell fold over elastic (and aplix too).

A poly cotton blend could be used for a fancy outer on a cover. You'd need to line it with waterproof PUL fabric. Or you could use it as an outer layer on an ordinary diaper. Since it's got poly in it its not really that useful for making diapers.

I have used the very baby pattern for LOTS of covers for my son (from NB to large sizes). I have made them from fleece, PUL with fashion fabric on the outside, slightly felted wool (from re-purposed sweaters). I have used FOE around the edges and have done the stitch and turn. I do not like top stitching on the covers. I have even made some fleece pockets for night using the pattern as a guide. It has been a great pattern and I like the covers I have made as much or more than all the "store"-bought ones I have tried.
You can use the cotton/poly as an outer fashion fabric if you use a PUL knit on the inside.
Happy sewing,
Melinda

I made this cover out of recycled fleece, and even being relatively new at sewing, it only took about 1 hour from start to finish.

It's really cute and easy to put together!
