oh Hula, I hear you sister...Hugs to you
For some real entertainment please see my HUGE series of HPT Faux Pas from back in September
hope you get a chuckle out of my experience and know that your mistake is minor compared to my long series of errors Enjoy..
"hey ya'll
Just wanted to update you all and spell out my error in hopes of you never having the same serious silly events.
After 3 more BFN (man I held a lot of urine yesterday--6hours minimum!!)
I have figured out what went wrong with the botched BF(faint)P(possible) I got yesterday.
Before I lay out my series of mistakes I just want to say that I am still steadily showing positive signs of pregnancy and I know that if I just implanted 2 days ago, then my HCG is still building. I have in No WAy lost hope, but I have learned to keep my mouth shut.
First of all I thought I had the instructions memorized---Nope! 10mins to read results is my OPK--I shouldn't have looked at the strip after 3mins
so mistake #1) Read the instructions even if you think you know EVERYTHING about TTC
My second mistake was loosely related, but this time it was me DEFYING the instructions--I realized this morning that it says, "4 drops of urine" OOOps...I probably used I don't know...10 drops
so mistake #2) Use the proper amount required! Extra won't help you. If the hormones in there, it will show up in the 4 drops.
Thirdly, I walked away. I watched the fluid make its way to the control strip, saw nothing in the test area and climbed back in bed to pout. Of course I was far from obsessing about the test so why did I bother to toss it in the trash ( I know I know we'll get there...) Pretending I wouldn't go back to peak??!!
yeah so mistake # 3) Wait the full 3 mins or take the test back to bed with you. You know all you want to do is stare at it and see what happens.
Fourthly, can you guess--Don't throw it in the trash and then go back for it!!!! They tell you to leave it flat for a reason!!! Especially if you have used over twice the required amount of urine.
So mistake # 4) Let the test lay flat for the entire time that you plan on obsessively inspecting it.
You wont need to worry about the next mistake I made, beacuse you would have left it to lay flat like a good little girl!! but my next mistake was;
mistake #5) once I returned it to a flat laying position I watched as the excessive urine settled to the center --in the same fashion a little bubble in a level would do. This is to be expected NOT to be seen as a Line--also time check this is about 30mins past the time that I should have stopped looking at it!!!
My next mistake? Always consult your MDC pals before you go making phone calls!! EEEEeekkk. I wish I had just freaked with DP consulted you all, who would have been eternally supportive, and waited for a second test this morning. Of course this is ALL in retrospect. In reality in that moment we were very lucky that it was wicked early in the morning and that many friends live in other (earlier) time zones--the damage could've been worse, but unfortunately we did have 3 house guests that jumped on this roller coaster with us. So if you can possibly stand it:
Mistake #6) Don't make phone calls until you see a 2nd positive?
Lastly researching the astrological sign of a potential baby that may or may not even be in your near future given all of the carelessness that went into the said botched test--Is not a good idea. Poor embryo didn't want to hear about all the Geminis that mom and mama have had issues with in the past---Sorry Embryo--Stay strong Little one, we will still love you and who knows maybe you'll come early and be a Taurus

Mistake #6) Don't micro manage the fragile cell cluster!! It doesn't like that! We know all of this elements are variables and we will save ourselves a lot of grief if learn to let go NOW!!!
so there it all is---The First and last time I will shame myself publicly. I feel 100 times better knowing where (the numerous places) I went wrong.
Thanks for listening."
