Is this possible?

A little TMI but I'm wondering what is happening to my body. My lochia had basically gone to being just a brown smear on the pad, but then three days ago it started to get really heavy and bright red. I thought nothing of it to begin with, just thought perhaps I was doing to much as we went away for a couple of days to dh's bro's place. But it hasn't stopped, and well I feel hormonal like I'm on my period. Could I be? I have heard of people getting their period at 6 weeks pp. Which I will be tomorrow. But I'm exclusively bf! As in Avye has not had a single bottle since she was born. She eats every 2-4 hrs, and in the evening for about 2 hrs before she'll fall asleep. (which I think is great because she only wakes up once during the night now)

But with dd#1 I got my period at 3 months pp, also exclusively bfing her. So is it possible, or did my lochia just get heavier? Should I be concerned?

a little lochia talk is nothing compared to what's been discussed in the TMI thread!

i don't have any real advice or input, but getting your period at 6 wks pp is just a cruel joke!

My MW thinks this is what is going on with me, which SUCKS. She wants me to start charting and watching my ferns to see if she is right, but BAH. I didn't ovulate until my daughter was 13m last time (and promptly got pregnant) so maybe this is how the universe balances out.

After my past 3 pregnancies, I had finished with post-partum bleeding at about 3-4 weeks. At 6 weeks pp, I had some bleeding like you describe - looked like a period, lasted a few days. But nothing else happened for MONTHS. With DS1, got my period back 11 months pp, with DS2 it was back at 12 months pp, with DS3 it was back at 9.5 months pp.

I have HEARD (don't know how accurate this is) that anything prior to 56 days pp should be considered lochia. I've also heard that there is a hormone drop off at about 5-6 weeks that causes bleeding in some women. It seems normal for me to have the 6 week psuedo-period, so I just ignore it.

Mine had slowed down and then picked back up and I passed a clot yesterday after going to the chiro and now its back to almost nothing again, like maybe just a smear when I wipe. Just another option I guess. I can't imagine your period coming already but I guess anything is possible.

Thanks you guys! I feel better now and its slowed down today, so maybe it is just a hormonal thing. I guess I'll find out next month if it was or not.

My mw told me when I asked her that doing extra jobs and work can cause it to come back red again even if it had slowed down to brown blood. That's what happened to me anyways.
