I had back labor with both my boys. My contractions would start in my uterus and then go around to my back. Sometimes by the time they were done in my back, they'd be back in my stomach. Once it got to transition that's how they all were. Basically it felt like my back was going to break. It was a tightening feeling combined with the feeling of my back being pushed out. Dh and the midwives pressed on my back to counter the pressure. Massage helped somewhat and at one point all I wanted them to do was apply pressure and lots of it. With my youngest the midwife used her elbows, I still love her to this day

To prepare myself I'm bringing a hand massager and a couple tennis balls. I might even bring a rolling pin. I need a LOT of counter pressure once the back labor gets going and last time dh kept taking breaks because his wrists hurt (hearing him say that at the time made me want to cut him, his wrists hurt and I felt like someone was trying to explode out of my back!

) so I'm trying to bring him things to help the process.
