Well, i dont know what back labor feels like. I'm having immense pressure on my cervix, but no CX's. My back has been killing me FOR DAYS. Its mainly when i sit down, a hot shower takes the pain away...

Can anyone describe it? I know its different for everyone, but a general idea would be good!

Thanks!

Well, I'm certainly no expert, but I can tell you my experience. Hot showers did help a ton. I spent much time in there! No amount of kneading or pressure by DH or anyone else even felt like any help at all. And then when we progressed some, it felt like he was much more in my butt than anywhere else. The only place that I could even think of sitting was on the birthing (yoga) ball. Doggone it, I did every single exercise and posture during the whole pregnancy to prevent a posterior babe too! Who knows! Best of luck though!!! Oh, and by the way, it was all pretty much forgotten as soon as I saw his little face! Anything was worth it!

So is it like 'true' labor?

I'm so clueless, because i only had normal frontal contractions with both my boys.. of course SHE has to be a rough one LOL!

How long should i let it go on, before getting seen?

Ah yes, we call our 'birthing ball' a 'therapy' ball because DS2 was sooo scared of it for the longest time. (sensory issues)

Perhaps after my shower i'll pop a sit on it. haha i said pop. LOL

I had back labor with both my boys. My contractions would start in my uterus and then go around to my back. Sometimes by the time they were done in my back, they'd be back in my stomach. Once it got to transition that's how they all were. Basically it felt like my back was going to break. It was a tightening feeling combined with the feeling of my back being pushed out. Dh and the midwives pressed on my back to counter the pressure. Massage helped somewhat and at one point all I wanted them to do was apply pressure and lots of it. With my youngest the midwife used her elbows, I still love her to this day

To prepare myself I'm bringing a hand massager and a couple tennis balls. I might even bring a rolling pin. I need a LOT of counter pressure once the back labor gets going and last time dh kept taking breaks because his wrists hurt (hearing him say that at the time made me want to cut him, his wrists hurt and I felt like someone was trying to explode out of my back! ) so I'm trying to bring him things to help the process.

I only had cervical pain n my first pregnancy, but I think i had some back labor this time, but only at the end/transition and pushing. The contrax would start as blidning pain in my cervix, as usual, but then there would be this awful pain in my back also...it it so hard to describe, but it was like someone had electrified my lower back and was electrocuting me during the contraction, and also slamming my lower back with a sledgehammer all at the same time. It was awful beyond words. Then as bay moved down, it was like my lower back literally ripped apart. Very unpleasant. I had maybe 45 minutes of that? I can not fathom how any woman has back labor her entire labor. Inconceivable.
