Goodwill overpricing - Page 4

Our Goodwill does this, too, and it frustrates the heck out of me. I have gotten some good deals, but more often than not I end up leaving just shaking my head. Like a pack of those cheapy fake matchbox cars marked for $3.99 when they came from the dollar store??
I really don't shop there anymore.
I prefer to buy the kids new clothes that I find on clearance.. they end up lasting us longer and then ds can pass them down to dd. It stretches our money farther.

so how do you explain them giving vouchers to the poor? or is that not them trying to help them? or the fact that they have job training programs and hire people who most bussinesses wont eg ex felons. If thats not trying to help the poor, what is? They also offer their employees discounts as incentives and an extra benifit. Not to mention their name alone implys that they are trying to help the less than fortunate.

you know what really ticked me off?
We had this re-store for home building/repairing needs. Everything the store had to sell was donated from people for free. FREE!!!. The prices they then charged were as much and occasionaly more than a 'real' store.
I tried to bring it up with management and they thought I was crazy. A couple of months later they went out of business. It was too bad as the idea was great.

Jeeze, I just totally relised that all thrift store have thier merchandise given to them for free, duh

This is my local Goodwill's mission statement:

Quote:
Our mission is to enhance the quality and dignity of life for individuals, families and our community by providing job-related services for people with barriers to employment.
That's all I was saying.

I have been noticing this too. It's unfortunate.

that's what i was wondering myself-our salvation army is really really bad about overpricing stuff, and i wondered if this had anything to do with it.
shame on them for sure, either way.

I just bought jeans for $6.99, which would have been high except that they were Hilfiger, but ALL of the jeans were priced at that, so many people were getting kind of ripped off.

I have noticed Goodwill going up in price.
